I'm the dad from the team that designed the LEGO Ideas automated garbage truck. Thanks for the kind words about our design, and I really like your take on a functional ASL of the future! Hopefully we'll hear positive review results soon! Your miniaturization work is nice. We did do some miniaturization of the arm mechanism for a rear loader that we have instructions for on our project page if you haven't see that yet.

Hi Scott!! 😄 My hat off to you, for being an inspirational father, for raising the bar really high on lego garbage trucks and for creating such a clever grabber mechanism!! I do hope lego ideas chooses you&son's garbage truck!..looking forward to when they release the list of chosen ones! I've not yet seen your rear loader mechanism! Looking forward to checking that out in a bit!! I'm honored to receive your comment..Thank you!

@@lauramcneill4623 Thank you Laura! that was really helpful! 😄 And Scott, great technique on the rear loader! More shallow and compact for sure! Clever use of the L-shaped half beam to attach the grabber to the rotating axis. Great use of the lego gun/handles for the trash bin grabbers! 👍👍👍

Looks really good. Cant wait to see the road systems in your city. Im currently building a destroyed subway tunnel, where homeless guys live and planning to build a suspended monorail. Really enjoying your content. So inspirational. I was thinkink about building this garbage truck for my city, and your video pushed me to do it. Good job.

OMG the wrecked subway tunnel sounds epic!! Love the creative idea of it! Looking forward to seeing it! Stoked you liked the garbage truck! I'm still amazed at such a clever mechanism that they came up with! Glad you are going to add a garbage truck: its a city essential..haha

@@TealBricksinParadisa it sure is. I've got the street sweeper, and I like that it is nice and small, because my city isn't really big, but Im really brainstorming right now how to make it even smaller than yours.
@TealBricksinParadisa4 жыл бұрын
@@brickben7840 Awesome! the latest street sweeper is a really cool little set. I have it too and for my city I'm going to remove the driver cab completely and make it full robotic, like a roomba robovac. Are you saying your want to convert your street sweeper to a garbage truck? Making the grabber even smaller is going to be a fun challenge!
@brickben78404 жыл бұрын
@@TealBricksinParadisa it sure will be a challenge. And about your street sweeper, it sounds really good. The idea of making the city futuristic but not much is genius.

Awesome design! I would put the seat on the right side so the driver. Could look back out the window to line up the trash cans with the arm. Most side loader trucks have both right and left hand drive. This would avoid your theoretical driver needing to use the blindside mirror to operate the losing arm. Either way, great job and how about a rear loader truck too?
@TealBricksinParadisa4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Glad you like it. I think I'll take your advice, however for a slightly different reason. The operator will need to jump out of the truck on occasion due to poorly/overloaded trash bins. So I'll move him to right side of the truck. As far as lining up the truck to bin by sight or using the mirror would not be necessary in the futuristic year 2060. The suite of sensors, cameras and large touch screen will handle that. The operator can watch the camera on the screen to get the alignment within +/- 2ft and the robotics on the grabber arm can handle the rest. Great suggestion!

Very clean mechanism, I can tell you put multiple iterations into the design. I would have to say that the lime green and light green clash a bit, but the white portions help to keep it balanced.
@TealBricksinParadisa4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nathan! I agree the color blocking of front being light green and rear of the truck being lime green are a bit off. At the time the lighter green was hard to source the necessary bricks in that color, however I'll have to relook at my inventory as I may have more light green now. Good suggestion!

Haha thanks Tri and welcome back! 😄I agree the road is too small for the truck. That road is actually only for my bicycles and scooters in Paradisa City and I just felt like showing it for this video. The garbage truck will actually be using a wider road. Hey Hubstar! Glad you like the garbage truck! I wasn't planning to take it apart anytime soon. Is there a particular part of the truck you are trying to learn how to build? I can try to help. I think the video shows enough of the mechanism and the container, if you freeze the video and look at the pieces you can see how it is built! 😊
