I like how he pointed out the illegal build. At the same time Lego found a way to bypass it lol. There are soke spots that don't look as realist as they could, like the tile flooring or the arches used to create a round effect. But there is a limit to how far you can go. And imagine what the price would be if we had a front and back to the castle. That could easily go for $700- $800. maybe more.

While you may be right about the ponytail element (with scissors and brush) in the treasure chest being a reference to Cinderella, I think it's more probable that it's a reference to Tangled (i.e. when Mother Gothel cuts Rapunzels's hair with scissors in the beginning of the movie and the lock turns black, and the brush being constantly used in the movie). Also, this is what LEGO says: "Main tower third-floor room features a chest containing brush, scissor and lock of black hair elements..."They may be saying "hair element" because that's what it was designed for, but it still makes more sense for it to be a Tangled reference, as it would be a less stretched reference, Cinderella already has a room referencing her, nobody else has two, and also, you know, the whole castle is "hers."

Yes, you are correct. This is the "Tangled" room according to the instruction manual. Also the kitchen is supposed to be from the scene in "Little Mermaid" where the chef was trying to cook Sebastian

It's the *mold/injection mark* on some studs that will consistently prevent a fully seated connection, so it depends upon the precise orientation of the underlying part! I learned something new!

You guys would be correct if I had connected that plate to a regular stud on the side of a brick. But because I connected it to a technic pin with stud and due to the fact that the technic hole is placed slightly higher than regular studs, there IS in fact room for the plate without touching the LEGO logo on the studs. :)

Of course I meant (and mean) no offense to your hard work with the question I raised, but there are occasionally some challengeable techniques that make it into production sets and if nothing else it's academically interesting to discuss. Pursuant to your response I've set up some tests on my desk and it consistently appears that the extra height of a technic brick's hole versus a brick with studs on the side is not sufficient to provide clearance when a rigid attachment method used (such as 1x1 bricks with studs on 2 sides used as adapters between the technic brick and the modified plate). I'm using crisp, clean, barely used parts and each example stresses the parts, preventing the technic brick from sitting flush. Your technique in this castle, though, using the pin, definitely provides the necessary clearance as I demonstrated, by virtue of the inherent looseness of fitment that pin piece itself. Again, it's all academic, shop talk type stuff and no offense is intended. I love all the references to the different Disney movies. I feel it gives the set a lot more reason to add to my collection. I was still going to get it, just for collection and display purposes, but now I like it even more. I also love the use of new techniques and parts in this build, and the vase was one of my favorites. The minifigs are great for collection too. Also, great montage at the end! 10:18 "Daffy" Hehe just had to point that out. No offense, just thought it was funny.

Yup, money is expensive. The set itself is great, but I'm just not a big enough fan of Disney to warrant the purchase (As opposed to, say, the Sandcrawler set that reaches a similar price point but represents source material that I'm more interested in). Hey, Jang! Great video, as always! I was very much looking forward to this review, and it does not disappoint. Thank you! I did want to leave a thought regarding the chest which contains the brush and pony tail hair piece. I could be incorrect, but I believe that may be a reference to Tangled, as opposed to Cinderella. I think the hair piece is meant to represent the piece of hair which is cut from Rapunzel's hair toward the end of the film. The brush and scissors are meant to be part of the Tangled story as well. My friend love legos but he's a "mincraft" square purist. For him, any peices that is not a cube or a plate is invalid and nothing with an "specialised" shape can be used for anything else. This build may finally convince him that "odd" shaped peices WAY nore uses than their original ones. Jeez, there is even minifigure accessories used to build unexpected things! That's really clever.

I am sure I am in the minority. As both a fan of Disney and LEGO I was highly disappointed with this set. I have two major complaints. The first is the building of the castle's element. This is a Disney Castle, so IMO, the building experience of the towers should be the focus. But instead, it is obtained with many large pieces. My second complain is the playability of the set. I find the back to be overcrowded and the designer tried to include too much. It would have been better if he had focus on a few and give it all the necessary details it deserves. Leaving the rest for us to expand on our own.

I think some people might be confused: This set is modelled off of Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom and Tokyo Disneyland, not Cinderella's Castle (the one which appeared in Cinderella the film)

I'm not sure the 1x2 plate fits because of "a bit of play", but because it's a technic hole. Remember that technic holes are a little higher than the stud of bracket bricks. Which is what makes a 6541 (brick with technic hole) technically uncompatible with a 87087 (bracket brick with stud) (this is too in Lego's rules, even though they've violated it in the past). However I don't know how much higher a technic hole is, and if that gap compensates for the thickness of a Lego logo. Both gaps are very small.

Fun fact: The grand bedroom in this model might be a nod to the grand bedroom of the Cinderella Castle Suite, a small suite located inside the actual Cinderella castle at Disney World. This suite was originally designed to be an apartment for Walt Disney and his family but Disney passed away before the castle was complete. The empty area was used by technicians for many years until about ten years ago when Disney Imagineers turned the area into that suite. Inside the suite is a hotel room designed like a chateau room (bedroom, bathroom, parlor, etc.) with references to Cinderella, including a real glass slipper (like the one in this set), a stained glass painting of the castle in flames, and a pumpkin design on the floor carved in 24 karat gold. Consider yourself a really lucky person if you ever get the chance to stay there!

JANG, what an awesome detailed review of the Disney Castle. Your channel and another Lego KZbin Channel have gotten me back into Lego again since I was a kid. By the way I am a viewer since early this year and a subscriber around the same time as well. Before I get the Lego Architecture US Capitol Building I'd definitely like to see your speed build and review of it.
