I like how they used the base plates back then it finishes the set off more
@TieTheLegoGuy3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, baseplates were the bomb back then. Seems like we only get them now in modulars

I had this set as a child in the 90s and I loved it - built it over and over again. It must be somewhere at my parents’ house somewhere. It looks so much smaller than I remember! Thanks for sharing this video.

Also I’m pretty sure the canon does shoot those single black bricks - put one in the barrel, pull back on the stick at the back of the canon and release, and it should be propelled out. It could be a false memory but I definitely have a memory of that working!
@TieTheLegoGuy2 жыл бұрын
Hey glad you liked it, great set to own. And they actually did have shooting cannons I believe depending on where you bought it. In North America they were none shooting, but in Europe and other places they were shooting cannons. I have no idea why they did it like that lol

The ninja theme really brings me back. The face on the red ninja was my favorite mini figure head growing up, and I loved how the set molded gems in colors other than the classic ruby in the adventurers desert theme. Though I still love the adventurers desert theme. I’ve wanted to make an Egyptian themed build with those classic hieroglyphics pieces for a long time. It is a dream build of mine.
@TieTheLegoGuy2 жыл бұрын
That would be really cool, love Egyptian MOCS personallt, and yeah the Ninja line was pretty special

Those dragon wings in transparent fluorescent reddish orange on the Ninja princess would only appear in a few more polybags and some Mindstorms sets before its discontinuation in 2003. The printed walls, the emperor's horse's armor, and the 16x32 base plate in "Earth orange" (Old brown/Mata brown) are exclusive to this set. The doors in the same color also make their second to last appearance here as well. Interestingly, this set also marks the debut of the 1x2 palisade brick in black, which is still in use today. But some other colors of the palisade bricks weren't as fortunate. This set would be the fourth and final appearance of the 1x4 palisade brick in tan, and the same piece in black-along with the 1x6x6 palisade wall were exclusive to this theme, appearing in only three and two sets respectively. Some of the roof tiles, such as the 3x4/25 degree and 2x3/25 degree ones in blue were retired between eight and nine years ago, with the former making its final appearance in a City set (4205) in 2012, and the latter making its final appearance in a "Games" set in 2013 (50006). Apart from bulk bricks tubs, the 3x3/25 degree "corner outside" bricks in blue only appeared in the "Tie Crawler" (7664) in '07, before being discontinued. The 2x2x3/73 GR roof tile in black-which debuted here, was retired in 2010, after appearing in 31 other sets. And I happen to have three of them (7702, 7621, and 8634 respectively).

A fantastic set! I love it and hope I can add it to my collection sooner rather than later. LEGO has btw made metallic gold ingot pieces. They are quite rare unfortunately in sets, but some of the monkey kid sets and the barracuda bay do include them. In my opinion these are just as good as the chromes coins. However what would be perfect, if we had the coins back and treasure chests would include 1 set of coins and 1 gold ingot.

There were many different colored ninja outfits that were used in this theme. Black, grey, red, and white are all the ones that I remember. Based on the manuals that would show all sorts of sets in Lego themes, it is implied that the grey and black ninja were rivals. But as for more lore on that, you may have to see if tie has more info on that.
