LEGO Flying Fortress 6093 Review! The biggest Ninja set of the 1990s

About the whole “There’s no established good guys” thing, they actually did. Here’s a list of who’s good and who’s bad. Good guys: Grand Master Gi-Dan (Blue samurai with lots of golden ornamentation) Dojo (Green headband blue samurai) Kata (Red headband blue samurai) Ito (Grey ninja) Bad guys: Kendo (Eyepatch guy) Bonsai (Black ninja) Robber (Not in this set) I’m not sure about the 1999 and 2000 characters though. What's really rad about these is that if you had enough pieces and minifigs, you could build additional weapons and have a huge epic battle!

I had this set as a kid. I really played a lot with it. I don't know why in mind I remember there was a play feature with the jail to make the prisoner escape

Great set to own, especially as a kid. And hmm I don't think theres a feature, but could be wrong. The wild west sets had a lot of breakout jail features which is around the same time this theme came out

Tie, did you ever see the alternate build on the back of the box? You can reconfigure the slanted 'rock pattern' wall pieces to be a really cool, more vertical fortress

I actually never owned the box, but the instructions I believe do that, sorta like Fort Legoredo which is cool

Its a pretty good one, was able to get a good deal on ebay for it incomplete and got the rest of the pieces off bricklink, can be the cheapest way to do it if your looking at buying depending on what pieces are missing

4:55, hahahah “I love jails” sounds pretty dark hahaha. I understand what you mean though, the first set I had as a kid had a little jail and skeleton. So that imagery was always in the back of my mind when I was playing with them, the cops, ninja, knights, cowboys, and pirates all loved jails.

Oh man, the feels. This was the largest and my favorite Lego set that I ever got as a kid. Right up there with the large Egyptian sets and pirate ships. Thank you for bringing back some memories!

The chrome gold coin pieces were since replaced by round pearl gold plates with a printed coin design on top...

What’s cool is that the stone tower bridge has those technic pin connections as well, so theoretically if you get that set and this set, you could kinda mix and match the segments a bit

One of my 1st memories was playing with this, and the city Lego set as a kid. Knowing how expensive this is now, makes me appreciate that my dad would spend this much money on us as a kid being a blue collar worker.

I wish we could have non lisences themes back like Castle, Space and more... ! I'd love to see remakes of these sets like in the style of the Black Falcon new set, or other Castle subthemes. Viking Castles, Roman, Ancient Egypt castle/palace etc.

At one point, I remember some reviews comparing this set to the "Dragon Fortress" (7419) from Orient Expedition. Interestingly, the chrome gold coins have been retired for eleven years at this point. The black headgear was near exclusive to the Ninja theme for thirteen years, though it appeared in the "Ambush in Cairo" set (7195) from the Indiana Jones theme in '09. In the 2010s, it only appeared in eight sets, two of which were the "Cole" starter packs from Ninjago, and one of which was a collectible minifigure polybag (8683). It was around until 2013, when it was retired after appearing in a TMNT set (79103) that year. Even then, some other pieces in the same color such as the 3x3 25-degree rooftile were retired last year, as was the standard 2x10 brick in red. The 1x1 plate w/holder in blue was retired twelve years ago. The 1x2 palisade brick in light grey and the 1x6x6 palisdae wall in white only appeared here and in one other set from this theme (6083) which you also reviewed. The 2x2x2 nose cone in the old dark grey was retired in 2003, though its final appearance was in an education package (9320) that year. The headsquare scarf on the skeleton in red was retired in 2013, after appearing in a seasonal promo set (40059) at the end of that year. This was also the first of sixteen sets to have the 1x4 plate in earth orange, which was retired seventeen years ago. The 4x6x6 slanted panel with rock prints only appeared here and in the smaller "Stone Tower Bridge" (6089) from this theme. The 2x8x6 swivel door frame in white is also exclusive to this set, as is the 8x8 brick in red. The 4x10 brick in red was retired two years later...

Great review of a very cool set. I haven't explored the old Ninja sets. I know I've gotten some figures in used hauls, but haven't had any significant sets myself...so cool to see the review of the this vintage set.

Yeah, with so many sets out there I'd be interested in, I'd probably only get started on the classic ninja theme if I got a lucky score haha. I have gotten several of the ninja figures, but haven't pulled any ninja sets yet. I haven't actively checked out that theme at all yet, so nice to see the review of this set to get a look a big cool set. I haven't watched many youtube videos recently, but had to tune in for your Old School Wednesday. I did watch your 2017 catalog video...funny how some of those sets don't seem that recent because so much has come out since then.

Ninjago is awesome, but to get old style, darker historical looking castles with Samurai is something a bit different than Ninjago. But the theme is honestly too similar to Ninjago to come back I feel. Fortunately we still have something Ninja even if it is more modern day
