Very cool MOC Alex! Love the details and the yellow outlining. And Homer is just the finishing touch!! Also nice spot in the city, next to the fire control center. As an engineer who's been to oil&gas sites, here are a few (small) things you could add: - a flare stack - a muster point - warning lights/claxon But it totally looks awesome right now!

I think it would be great if a train line had some sort of filling station near it. It could even be by the main train station with simulated pipes going underground. Most real oil refineries have train oil loading. I know I’m a train nerd!

I totally agree. I am thinking of moving it closer to the trains to do this.

Cool. I think this is one of the best builds you've done. It looks so authentic. I love it. One suggestion might be adding small, plate width, stripes to the big black tanks and the red and white supply lines just to break them up a bit. Just like you have with the small propane tanks at the edge. This should help define the big black ones more too. Well done!

Wow Alex this oil refinery looks really cool! I really like all the details put into this moc. Since your city is big it would make perfect sense to have an oil refinery in it. For a suggestion, I think that you should add more pipes and tubes because if you look at actual oil refineries, there are so many pipes and it kinda looks messy which is good for this particular building. Great job and keep it up 👍💪

Octan will fund a park 1/4 the size of the old field right outside their building and you should be grateful towards them for such an amazing community gesture, never mind the fact they took over the whole field to begin with! Oh yea and the kids will have no health issues running and breathing hard right next to the refinery! haha

Very nice oil refinery! It fits perfectly in that part of the city as well. Nice to see a new MOC. I also saw the old-school fire station at the back. If something is about to happen at your oil refinery those standard fire trucks aren't equiped for the job. The lego 60061 Airport Fire Trucks (Airport Crash Tenders) are the real deal. Maybe give them a place next to the oil refinery. If you think about expanding it in the future, a cargo train and a guard house fits in well. And you know for sure about Homer...?
@GJBricks4 жыл бұрын
You’ve done really well capturing that feel. Doing the pipes is a challenge. And the yellow gives it a really good feeling as well. Maybe you need an emergency station/fire pumping area. I made a small sci-fi Petrol station and wanted to capture that futuristic craziness. So hard to do it justice. Need a bucket load of macaroni pieces I reckon. Thanks for sharing it

@MayoHosko4 жыл бұрын
I think more pipes, tanks, elevated platforms and overall more builds with industrial 🏭 specialised pieces would make the oil refinery more dense and more proper. There’s too much open space for my liking because oil tycoons want nothing more than drilling as much crude oil as possible in a small space to profit on the Great American Highway 🛣 (interstates). I love the details you’ve put so far Alex and I agree that those tanks blend in to the background. I couldn’t think of anyone more qualified in safety prevention and inspection as Homer Simpson. I love that reference. Now you just need to build a watch tower office for Mr Burns
@ElectricianTS4 жыл бұрын
Dilemma #1: The scale of today's vehicles compared to those from over 10 years ago is very visible. There are 4 basic obstacles when deciding which scale to follow in a Lego diorama: The 70's miniwheels (with the newer Racers), the larger vintage scale with 4 studded red rimmed tires, the 80's-90's miniwheels scale invaded by the "giant" minifigures, and the present-day large scale. And that's without mentioning the micro-scale... Deciding on which one to pick is especially hard when you have pieces and sets from the different scales...

You wouldn't put a cooling tower right below a walkway. You might need a few more distillation columns and maybe some above ground storage tanks for both feed-stock and refined product. Also, the office building is a CCR, Central Control Room.
@alexnunes4 жыл бұрын
This is the kind of stuff I love. Thanks for the great feedback.
@JamesKlyng1twofish4 жыл бұрын
@@alexnunes No problem. Can't wait to see the final product!
@JamesKlyng1twofish4 жыл бұрын
Also, maybe some heat exchangers before you hit the main distillation column. You want to heat your feedstock up gradually before it enters the main distillation column that way equipment doesn't get shocked. They usually heat with steam during start up of a unit, after they use the hot refined product coming out of distillation to heat up the feed stock to save steam and energy. Good luck!

Most of the time it's at my LEGO store from the Pick a Brick wall. Most of the time there isn't anything good, but once in awhile they do and that when I stock up. If I am building something that needs specific pieces I will buy them from Bricklink or from LEGO online. It can get expensive that way, but at least you get what you need.
