You could maybe lay a layer of sideways 1x bricks on top

What really interests me is which box has more volume. When you just buy studs in bulk, volume is probably the aspect that matters most.

Try this - 3 stacks of 19 on floor + 4 bricks tall of your method next. That should be 189 2x4 bricks.

Or possibly get 2 x 4 plates on top??
@StudCity Жыл бұрын
you can definitely get plates across the top!
@shapeofsoup Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that’s my thought. If you can throw a full layer of plates and then tiles instead of trying to cram in another layer of brick that’s technically overflowing, that would seem well worth it to me, and potentially more efficient than the cup.

To really compare you should have taken the bricks out of the box and put them in the cup. It's about total volume. Obviously the box is easier for most pieces because of its square corners as opposed to a round sided cup.
@deco4k677 Жыл бұрын
I wonder if you'd be able to fit a few more by staking aideways (as the left and right sides of the box are the smallest area wich would leave the least amount of exposed studs, if any, asuming you also use some plates and maybe tiles)
@StudCity Жыл бұрын
that might be able to get a little extra with no exposed studs but at the end of the day its the same volume

Great video, can you do the same for tiles and other pieces
@StudCity Жыл бұрын
Yes we can!

Cool. Thank you. If you lay the 2x4 bricks on their side, the long way. It might be less wasted space. Maybe 7 studs tall x 12 studs deep x maybe 19 bricks wide. I'm guessing by using LEGO math. So, that's 171 2x4 bricks + 19 1x12 bricks. Maybe......

@@StudCity Even if the piece count is roughly the same as a cup or slightly less, the time saved by stacking a box is vastly superior to all the shinanigans required to stack a cup

But 1300 1x1 divided by 10 (10ct per piece) would be 130€, wouldn´t it ?
@StudCity Жыл бұрын
correct uf the going rate is $0.10 per 1x1.... however they are $0.07 per piece on the pab lego website. Still a might price.

I personally love that its no longer a cylinder but like you said, its illogical to move from re usable plastic to thrown away boxes

Do we know the cost of a box vs a cup ? Do they have large and small boxes Maybe I missed it in the video
@synjyn901 Жыл бұрын
Pricing will be the same, according to my local stores, and there are two sizes of the boxes.

Very good video! But i don't only buy bricks. I packed a box today at Hamburg Lego Store and it was boring and annoying. I like special and curved elements, wheels, bars, etc. The cups are way better, last forever, and are see-through. I can't stand the new boxes and this is a bad and sloppy , greedy move by Lego.

Love the input John! Fortunately I believe you can still bring your old cups to get pab!

The question is will they still let you use your he cups that you already have?
@synjyn901 Жыл бұрын
Both of my local stores have said you can still refill your cups after the boxes arrive.
@shapeofsoup Жыл бұрын
Given that their reasoning for this change is environmental, I imagine that’s the idea. Use the cups if you have them, or use the less wasteful and environmentally harmful box.
