Congrats on finishing the imperial soldiers sets. I bought all of these when they were first out and was one of my favorites of the pirates sets. This one is definitely one of the classics

This set was one of my first vintage set restorations. I found the pieces in a bulk lot that my mom found for me at a garage sale. I saw the large flag, the small imperial and pirate flags, and the printed corner wall piece and knew I needed to complete that set!

I just got this set last week, and the first thing I did was add a 1x3 plate to fill in the gap in the main arch. Can’t believe it was never included!

Fantastic! I had a few of the smaller sets as a child and the Pirate comic book, the 11 year old me would have been ecstatic if I had (for the time) such a big set. I'm impressed how pristine this set looks.

Congrats on finishing the faction Stacey! I agree with your last statement. I too love vintage LEGO for its simplistic (maybe some would even say 'primitive') designs, but that might be because I grew up with those sets, including this one.

I just love those baseplates as so many many cool things to make out of them from just a baseplate, LEGO definitely should bring them back 👍, I really want the Scorpion Pyramid #7327 thaat set has an amazing baseplate too.

I miss baseplate sets so much! Especially raised baseplate sets! I wish LEGO would bring them back too.

I never had this one as a kid. Really wanted it though!! I had the small island tower and the small Imperial ship. Pirates are my favourite theme I think. Very slightly prefer them to Castle

I only recently acquired this set as well. Someone was selling it complete for £90 in a facebook group. I don't really have anything pirates that isn't a ship but this set was just too great not to get to display with my pirates stuff

I think one reason why vintage is better, is because it was more geometric whereas the modern sets add too many organic parts to LEGO sets anymore. I love my accessories, but I miss the simplicity. Me personally, I think LEGO should get away from licensed properties and come back to coming out with original series.
