Wow that gravel road is awesome!! How creative. Boat ramp looks great also. Love the flow of the beach, zoo, etc. we’ve been doing a lot of pathway in our city and theme park hoping it all flows. Blending of the train tracks looks really good!
@matt183854 ай бұрын
You should use a tan base for your gravel road to emulate sand, not mud like the dark brown. You could easily then sparsely add dark and light grey round tiles and 1x1 for the rock. Would look more realistic and save on parts imo.
@carlsmith6534 ай бұрын
Honestly feels very convoluted. The tunnel to the countryside would have been sufficient to link with the city. One road from the city crossing the train line to the port area. Parking for beach and zoo. Walkway to zoo crossing train line. Move track one mils plate to be closer to the zoo. Small train station outside zoo. Start the switch track on the curve to the countryside, giving the container area and port space for the main road. If you put down a truck with container in the future it won’t fit the small winding road past the boat ramp. Lots of space in the countryside to have the train yard horizontal to the edge of the able, which is easier to view. My 2 cents.
@FrogTownexotics294 ай бұрын
A pull in for a bus at the amusement park and zoo would be nice. It’s reasonable to say that people would take the bus there and helps make sense of not having a parking lot.

Most gravel is going to be sourced from the same location that it is actually used in. So for example, you have your Mountain that uses a lot of Grey pieces. IRL you'd have a quarry nearby where someone is crushing that same or similar Rock for gravel, and that's going to result in a greyer material. As such I'm not surprised at the comments about the brown making it kind of look like a mud / dirt road as it's closer to dirt than a stone or gravel of the area. What you can do to alleviate this however is you consider, (especially once the road approaches the mountain) adding more gray studs and plate etc to make it look like a Gravel Road that was built using material from the mountain versus a kind of red granite Gravel Road from somewhere else. this would be a great story to show how the road was built using just the landscape too.

If you want the illusion of a (big) parking space for the zoo you can make a “fake” parking garage. If you build a car tunnel going underground (just like the pedestrian tunnel in your old winter village) then you have the illusion of a parking garage without sacrificing the space for it
@ferripro91124 ай бұрын
Yess, and real cities are actually doing this for this purpose.
@happyscrapbooker17124 ай бұрын
The turnaround is a really great idea! The island is a nice way to break up the road. There's no point in adding the finishing details yet. The city is still under construction and things are still moving about as you rebuild the city. Seems silly to put in the vegetation and minifigs only to move them 20 times. That would be an inefficient use of your time.
@biedsy74504 ай бұрын
May I suggest that you put a arch over the beginning of the gravel road making it a hiking trail into the country side. You can call it the "Bricksie Trail".
@kthanna084 ай бұрын
1. Did people really complain about the employee of the month joke? 🙄 Don’t worry, most of us got it! 2. I LOVE that transition! It’s super realistic in my opinion. Like, the city maintains the turn around, so it’s nice, but the train yard maintains that gravel road, so of course they don’t worry about making the transition perfect. 3. The turn around is cool, but you could also make that into a traffic circle and it could give you a chance to build some kind of statue in the middle. Might be too hard to make a circle, though. Overall, great update! You continue to inspire me!

This actually happened where I work... but the Employee of the Month in my case was a new hire who was absolutely amazing... and then, after making Employee of the Month before passing his 90 days probation, he left before he'd been with us for six months because he couldn't get consecutive days off. It's a master class in "how to lose good new employees."

The turnaround looks great. You can easily leave the median at the height it is. No reason it *needs* to be the same as the exterior plates. Won't be able to tell once you add vegetation detail anyway. 100% agreed about skipping the parking lot. Parking lots and airports are huge wastes of space with big flat grey areas. If you really wanted the zoo to have one, you could easily shift the turnaround down and put a parking lot 'entrance' headed into the standing hole void.

Driving home today I saw the perfect "story" for a semi-rural paved transition to gravel. Have a group of road workers and a truck and add a bunch of potholes to one side of the truck and little piles of tar and gravel on the other. Have the workers in a group, leaning on their shovel and staring at the potholes😊

@anthonyb84054 ай бұрын
- maybe do a small round about where the two lane city road ends and transitions to the single road into the boat yard... that would give better flow for traffic. Carve into the beach (tan) brick area for this. Then the street would look back into itself. - a booth with dock attendant at the entrance to the boat dock area would make sense... just off where that new small round about would be located. This way the boat yard has its own designated entrance for the employees and or a pay for boat slip - an information stand/booth with park attendant for the entry to the dirt/gravel road would look cool. A place where you can get maps and information before going down the road into the country side - a small train station where the city street ends or near the zoo area... this would give a place for people commuting in for the zoo or country side/park to get off

I cant wait to see how this part of the city looks when it finally gets to the detail work. Also not a fan of the turn around if its just going to be that. Kinda odd not actually have parking for customers but I suppose this is just a fictional city and shouldnt be taken as series and do think it could make for cool displays with cars and people. I do think you should have incorporated both together. You could have the turn around but also incorporate parking spaces in it either with parallel parking or diagonal parking

I don't know how much/often you will be running trains, but beware having turnouts on slopes. Also beware reverse curves. Both can mess up trains running, especially if you are pushing with the engine. Maybe do a cattle guard and pasture more out in the country - not too close to a paved city road. Could be you're done with the need for AC this summer.... That neck fan really works? Sounds a bit noisy to me. Ah *hates* that brittle brown plate. 🙂
