Hundreds of millions or maybe even billons of people are going to have their lives, careers, and futures absolutely obliterated by AI. It makes it hard to use without feeling revulsion for it.

I work as a Photoshop retoucher and currently there is job opening for retouching for AI training. The pay is good and retouchers are happy to do retouching work for machine learning. So I think artists themselves are the culprit.

a few generations of career field shifts, or oh dear god maybe even some form of reimbursement, considering as how all those lives and careers are being destroyed by things you don't have to pay, give sick days, vacation days. Its an opportunity do distribute wealth, reduce menial labour, expand our minds with more free time. But nope the rich gonna hoover up every cent of wages they dont have to pay anymore.@@derpherp7432

You don't actually need to convert to fbx before bringing the .dae into Maya, the FBX importer in Maya will do all that.

Yes, but then the shader convert will not work properly. All Arnold nodes look correct in Hypershade but will render a black material. I could not find out the reason yet.

Damn, Arvid. This is absolutely insane. Fuck my CGI life. 🙂 ChatGPT-4 is doing all this without errors. I added a RouncedCorners shader: "And please write a Maya python script that adds a aiRoundCorners node, set the Radius attribute to 0.03, and connects the Out Value of this node to the Normal Camera input of all material nodes."

Nice! When I convert all materials I will get Arnold shaders with the right Base colors but it's all black in the viewport and render view. Any ideas why?

OK, it's the Collada format. Something is different. With FBX it works. I need to investigate the reason.

Hi Arvid. Why would you change the SSS Radius to match the base color? I understand doing it for the SSS Color but why for the Radius?

Normally what I do, that I didn't show in this scope of the video, is to retain the same hue in the radius, but at 20% saturation of the original color. Hue stays where it is, Saturation goes down to 20 percent and the value goes to 1. The reason is that you still want to have some kind of original color in the sss transmission color. I keep value at 1, so I can control the ray travel depth with the scale
