Hey Ryan at 5:15 you mentioned the problem with the cockpit mechanism being flawed, I think you built it wrong. The 2 brown cheese slopes on the grey jumpers are suppose to be in front of the 1x4 bricks with the tan plate. This is why it’s not working properly! I hope this helps, didn’t mean to critique your amazing video Ryan!!!

This set is the first thing I ever bought with my own money as a kid. I was in kindergarten, and I sat with my mom and she helped me order it from Lego over the phone. Core memory, I've been slowly recollecting my first sets sealed in box and this is at the top of my hit list now!

I recently went through my old bin and rebuilt a lot of Lego sets and this was the first one I put back together. Still love it, I think the updated grievous ships are over sized. I love the fig too but that’s definitely the nostalgia talking!

I remember getting this one on Christmas, that was a good one Btw the cockpit mechanism is slightly wrong here, the grey slider bricks should be 2 studs behind instead of the brown ones so it would not stuck. Although it will just be too loose this way😅

I remember when I had this set back in the day that it kept falling apart, I probably also kept opening the cockpit wrong, but I'd say it's more a desging flaw than a user error.

Very interesting to see theses older designs for the figures didn't start with lots of colors and details. They certainly must be sought after but they don't have the same appeal than newer and more detailed ones from peak SW days.

My first Star Wars set! Got it for Christmas in 2008, alongside the Imperial and Rebel battle packs. I'd had a couple of City sets before that, and Duplo when I was very young, but this was actually my first ever exposure to anything Star Wars, not just LEGO Star Wars. Started watching Clone Wars after getting them and it went a bit out of control from there lol With the Grievous figure I also found that the legs got a little loose but the bigger issue was how quickly he got cracks on his neck. From what I've seen that's also a super common thing to happen.

The back of the box does actually show the cannon swivelling back so it is an advertised function. I remember the cockpit slide breaking a few times as a kid but not nearly as bad as your one. Maybe one of your bricks is warped or something? Or misplaced?

Yeah I didn't have problems with mine either. Looks like it was built right but maybe something wasn't pushed down all the way? Could also be that one of the parts was slightly outside the usual tolerance ranges causing it to catch.

Ask mandr: i have a tuff desision to make and you gotta help me man, so i was planing on saving up for the upcoming death star for 1000 dollars, a few days later i go to the lego store to buy the new lego sets and i see the ucs lego AT AT on the shelf even though it passed its retirement and now i really don't know if i should buy the ucs AT AT or wait for the death star. It is a tuff decision becouse the AT AT is a fenominal set and theres only one left on the shelf but on the other hand the death star might be even better but i just don't know becouse we know close to nothing about the death star.
