I must admit, I keep watching this every now and then. Part because I'm nostalgic, and part because it's actually pretty cool for a Darth Bane trailer

you know my friends tell me that CG and green screen will never look good in films...but this has proven them wrong. I love it!(and by the way that shot with the army of light and the brotherhood of darkness clashing WASNT too dark!!! The darkness really brought out the lightsabers and it looked awesome!!!!!

Thanks, I did spend a disproportionate amount of time on that model for the amount of screentime it gets in this trailer. Though after spending a lot of time on it I made sure to include it whereever I could in the trailer.

great work, great cgi too, the night sword battle at the end was a sick idea.
@SmeagolStudios14 жыл бұрын
@SuperBlackBiker I didn't make up the story, but basically Bane destroyed the Sith order as it was at the time, except for himself, to end all the infighting and created the "rule of two," where there is only one master and one apprentice at a time. No robots in this, there are some Sith troopers (as seen in the Knights of the Old Republic games) that are sort of robot-esque

That's not Darth Malak. In the next book, Rule of Two, Bane's mind is temporarily damaged. He's the only Sith that survived the death wave from the Mind Bomb but it damaged his psyche. He's hallucinating with both Kaan and Qordis

I used Carrara to generate an elevation map, exported that to Photoshop, flattened it out into tiered layers by reducing the number of colors, then mapped slightly elevated studs on top of that.

There's a note about this in the video description. It's Malak's ghost, not the holocron, that he's talking to in the trailer.

This is a very impressive piece of work, you're attention to detail is excellent, I love the way you're able to integrate CGI into your stop motion animations. I have followed a few of your tutorials on your website and have begun to composite CGI elements into my films, it's gonna take a lot of getting used to but I think I might be able to pull it off.

@blodstainer Not sure where the joke would be. But I meant that dinosaurs are hardly the earliest part of the history of the universe for us; even just Earth goes back at least 4.5 billion as opposed to dinosaurs being in the last 100 million years. I agree with you about Infinite empire, there are a few vague bits of info that date back (much) further than that but not any major stories.

@abelizer Bane's lightsaber is red in the novels, but it was sort of an off-purple color in the comic books for years before that, and I thought the look was more unique and interesting so I went for that instead. I definitely took some creative liberties throughout this video.

@zaandarbrow I think it goes back a lot further than dinosaurs for us... There was a proposed book that was going to talk about the origin of humans in the star wars galaxy (coming from earth and sent back through time) but it got canceled. The Infinite Empire in "Knights of the Old Republic" goes back pretty far though, I don't know of Star Wars history set before that.

@dinocoking Naw, a short film is a very different thing. This is edited and paced like a movie trailer, whereas a short film usually tries to tell a simple story with a distinct beginning, middle, and end in a more complete fashion.

no! why won;t you make a full of this?!? its so awesome!

During the time this movie is set, purple was a predominantly Sith color. Electrum lightsabers like Mace's did not come until much later.

Malak, in the trailer, isn't a part of the holocron, he's a ghost, who appears shortly after Bane activates the holocron. I'm aware that Revan had a holocron and Bane learned from it. We just don't see Revan's image in the trailer.

@dumie435 The first thing is addressed in the video description. As far as the mandalorian, Bane had some part in fighting them at times over his long career, but I definitely took a lot of liberties as well.
@SmeagolStudios15 жыл бұрын
Correct, the Malak bit is an embellishment, though to clarify it's not the holocron of Malak, it is his ghost.

@evilmage567 no. bane was at first trained by all the mentors on korriban, but when he got shunned he secretly only continued with kas'im the swordsman and githany, another student. however, after visiting the tombs on korriban, he made a revelation about the sith and rejected all of the brotherhoods teachings, I.E. equality/stability, except for practical lessons and knowledge, I.E force tricks, light saber moves, etc. he then also learned most of his stuff from salvaged holocrons from planets.

Can't please everyone I guess. I definitely styled the trailer after real Star Wars trailers, hence the fairly slow pacing in the first half. The author of the book liked my trailer, though, I guess I'll settle for that.

@ultraprime501 Nope, I photoshopped them to look like they had decals on them (the Sith Troopers never move in this trailer, anyway)

Awesome. And really, I think you have the potential to become extremely popular among the most famous animators again (not saying that you aren't already are), but recently you've stopped uploading stopmations and started the llamas in Lima series. But, if you carefully examine the most famous Lego animators (forrestfire101, keshen8, xxxfancypantsxxx, pizzamovies, etc.) they are falling behind.
@SmeagolStudios13 жыл бұрын
@dumie435 I designed them myself, but they aren't decals, they were added in photoshop.
@AcceptanceLiving13 жыл бұрын
@SmeagolStudios The history beginning was Corotosis Blades, no such thing as lightsabers, or Bogan. (Sith.) So, here's a mere descripton of what it would be: A little enclave of what was "Jedi" who had magical powers and was used to protect the galaxy, until some Jedi felt like outcasts, abandoned the Jedi, making the Bogan side of the force. The Sith had little weapons, probably nothing better then a Corotosis Blade. When the lightsaber had came out, only Jedi had it until the Sith had stolen
