In an ideal world, this would have been released in 2019 when there was a “baby yoda” vacuum.

The vacuum was there because the toy companies were not told about Grogu in advance. It’s a major pain to have toys release before a show or movie comes out, which almost always leads to sets being inaccurate or missing vital characters. This is why there was a flood and over saturation of Baby Yoda/ Grogu merch as well.

Grogu was an amazingly kept secret. It was worth not having it leaked through mercy which would have happened if this released in 2019

He is almost perfect. The head, at least to me at that scale, is perfect. What I would have loved: ears on ball joints, Grogu being able to actually sleep flat in his pram (I would then add some kind of brown blankie from fabric stash), plus more pieces or some kind of mechanism to close up the pram.

As far as a set goes, this one is pretty much perfect. I would *love* it if the pram had a closing roof, but that’s not a big deal, I think the stand should have been transparent clear to make it appear as if it were floating, but I’m sure that’s an easy solution to change if you want, but this is a definite buy for me. I mean, maybe the mini pram should have had curved pieces on the sides instead of the ingots, but really, it’s the display tile part, who cares that much? Not me, surely. I am waiting to buy since I have a backlog, so I’m hoping I can score it for $75-85 down the line.

For Lego, I think it's actually a pretty good abstraction of his mouth. Zero interest in buying this, but they did a good job with the source material.

I was skeptical about this set but it's nicer than I thought! Definitely like this legofication of Grogu more than "big" Yoda and the pram looks neat. If it had the top lid I'd be willing ti pay full price, as of now $80 seems like a fair price to me.

For $100 this seems surprisingly reasonable for LEGO Star Wars but I think the Baby Yoda hype has kinda died down

Guess I don't really see much appeal already having the full size Grogu. The pram just isn't that interesting of a thing and it's a lot of pieces/cost. I'd rather they just released the small Grogu by itself so people that couldn't afford the big one can get him. But that's why I'm not a billionaire I guess.

That's a pretty good LEGO-ification of Grogu haha. He reminds me a bit of Gizmo here. Hey, that would be a good LEGO set. 😄 Species name and planet remains mysterious heh. I don't think knowing the species name would make much of a difference, but seeing the home planet or many more of Yoda's species together, at least, might be cool. Though it may be best to leave it mysterious. I believe Frank Oz thought of Yoda as being the last of his kind, and Dagobah simply being his home planet. Printed plaque is good. They should be universal and not just for Star Wars.

Unfortunately for lego, I think Disney has destroyed all excitement for star wars anything. Three years ago this would have beem an instant buy, now I couldnt even start watching the 3rd season of Mandalorian

People said that they had no excitement for star wars three years ago too. I think you need to look for a new hobby if you find no more joy in this one. Let people enjoy stuff if they do and don't waste time on stuff you don't like. It's a lot better to just do what you enjoy then constantly complain about what you don't enjoy

The third season was definitely a step down, and the way they're been spamming us with Star Wars TV shows, hoping something might actually work, is depressing. Very MCU. On the bright side, we got the absolute gem that is Andor, but that doesn't lend itself as well to Lego Star Wars as it's such an adult show without the obvious kiddie marketing tie-ins.
