MandRproductions Definitely the original, sure the new ones all nice and spiffy, but the old one is the only set you can aquire a blue Jedi intercepter, plus includes two rarer Jedi and well a head of an original astromech, I've always loved the intercepter more than the other ship, it just looks a lot cooler, plus the originals always rule.

right now, at their respective prices, I think the old one is a way better option. I personally also prefer the more in scale sized vehicles than the bigger more detailed and feature packed ships that sometimes just look weird from nowadays (this was also the case when I was a kid)

You forgot to talk about the missiles on the rings. The new one has the spring loaded, which is fine, but the old one just had little cone pieces on technic rods as it's own early flick-fire missiles, which fell out every time you tilted it downwards.

I own both, got the 2007 set for Christmas that year and bought myself this year's the other day, and I have to say, it's a tough call between them. While I have loved the older one, it's flaws have shown over time, and although representing a different design, the new set has addressed my issues with the older set. Indeed, I have dismantled the 2007 ring to make room for the new set, make of that what you will. I can't really choose which starfighter design is my favourite, they're both great, however directly between the sets, the Delta 7 takes it, but newer Eta 2 iterations (9494, 75135, 75038) would put up a better fight. Overall, 7661 was good for it's time, but a decade later and 75191 gets my vote. Lego will get extra marks if future starfighters are 2017 ring-compatible! :P

It doesn't affect the review, but I just wanted to mention that R4-P17 is actually a she. I don't think it's ever referenced in the movies but it's still nice to know. Oh, and I think that the model for the episode 3 Interceptor looks a lot better than the Delta model from the new set.

If you adjust for inflation, the old set was worth about $60. The new set has about 200 more parts (worth about $20 more bucks). The new one also has two more minifigs. (2 of them are also pretty rare but IDK how much more $ they add to the cost but lets just say $15). If you add it up the new set should be about $95. So, basically $100 is not that bad. Some people thought it was overpriced but if you think about it $100 is reasonable (ish). The price per part ratio is a little crazy.

I personally love the episode 2 version more. because I love the design more. just how sleek and long it looks with the cockpit at the very back, instead of the episode 3 one that is too similar to a tie fighter.

Personally I just like the older LEGO set (newer ship) just based on design alone as I never really thought the pizza shape of the first Jedi fighter was appealing. I obviously got the LEGO and toys since it was the only starfighter from episode 2 but the episode 3 version was one of my favorite ship designs in Star Wars as a whole specifically loving how it basically mixed the concepts of a Tie fighter with the cockpit design and wing shape in attack mode and mixing it with an A-Wing or Snowspeeder AND it was for the good guys this time! Based on LEGO the new version is clearly way better but the ship design will always go to the blue Jedi fighter.

The original does the hyper drive ring better. The ship is more centered. Also the ship looks better, it is easier to do an episode 3 delta, compared to the eta. The cockpit is to high in the newer one it needs to be more flush with the rest.

I think the first one is better. The reason behind that is because that kitfisto and the old Obi-Wan were just great. And the P2 Jedi star fighter has always looked better to me, and the dark blue color scheme just looked so sleek. The gold Astromech droid was just so cool to see. But yeah, the new one is great and all, but, ya gotta give it to the first one. I already have the Jango, and he's a great fit In the set. Young Boba has never been that interesting to me at all. The new ones got a better build in the case of sturdiness. I love them both, but I gotta go with the older one.

Jack's Lego Studios the jango has a slightly different print, along with young boba. The kit fisto and obi wan were great, but the newer obi wan is much better by comparison. The mechanism of the newer one is also better, and it also is sturdier and more comfortable to hold.

The older set has a few issues that were solved by the new one, however I still prefer the old one purely because the interceptor actually docks with the ring. In the new model, the starfighter just sits on top of the middle section, which is very inaccurate and looks laughably bad.

For $100 some bucks on new set no thanks the boost dock is cool and mechanism but the Starfighter is way to small of modle and the dome cockpit is just weird looking I'd still buy it once lower price but I'd modify the bigger version of Obi-Wans Starfighter on its landing boosters or build it with new plans that's what's awesome about legos..

The linear design never bothered me much. Always just looked at it as though by tipping it it looked as if it were flying. Minifig-wise, 2017 was better. Between sheer number and print detail, 2017 blows the older version away. Kit Fisto was a great exclusive, but that goofy smile always looked ... off ... to me. I may be wrong but I think the actual ring of the older version is more accurate to the movie except the fact it's the wrong color and starfighter. It should be the 3-engine ring of the older version with the colors and starfighter from 2017. The older version actually appears on the 3rd movie, whereas the 2017 version is in the 2nd movie.
