The helmets on these minifigs were absolutely crazy. Crazy detailed printing, creepy but extremely cool design... I loved these guys as a kid. Never knew they had names! Just checked on Google, apparently there's indeed some lore going with the UFO theme... That's really something.

I was 7 years old when this models came out, and my mom offered me the buggy. I was so in love with this one that I wrote a small story about it, and readed it in front of the class. They applaused me, and a few months later, when our school made a writting contest, my pals urged me to participate. ^^

I found this lying around in a cupboard when I was cleaning up. It was covered in dust and had way too many pieces missing. With a heavy heart I got rid off it, since I don't play Lego anymore, but I loved this one back then....It was a b-day gift.

Ufos and Insectoids theme were a awsome theme that I love the most since 98' 99' which I only dream of and also enjoy through the bookstore's display stand ( at that time, Lego were sold in book store in my country - Vietnam) when I was a boy. Last year I decided to search for them and try to buy them all from many countries (Usa, Germany, New Zealand, England and even Danmark). Lucky me, they were still good condition from many good seller. In my point, It's really a treasure.

I have this set thanks to my big brother. This box is my age and frankly I love it. the characters are incredible and emit something dark and mystical. I miss a lot of parts of this set but I managed to find the helmet of Alpha Draconis that I was able to buy for cheap. Definitely the best lego box of that year.

I have this set too, got it when I was 8, i remember LEGO advertising a story of these UFO aliens coming trough a wormhole to fight the fright knights. (another theme released in 1997)

Just ordered this set off Bricklink. Never owned the three bigger sets in the series but now I'm only missing 2 sets out of the UFO series :) Can't wait to build this one. Oh and the Warp Wing Fighter beautiful! Totally see why some Lego Fans consider it to be Lego's "first X-Wing"

The design the wings and cockpit are fantastic. And totally agree the UFO line was spot on and the trans green really catches the light.

Another set that is the same age as myself, and it's surreal that many of its pieces no longer survive. Even those "nose cones" in transparent fluorescent green were retired eleven years ago, and I happen to have ten of the sets which had it. The standard 1x2 plate in that color was retired in 2016, though I never had any sets with it. While the shade of light grey in this set has been gone for eleven years, this set was one of only nine (including re-releases) to have the 4x4 round Technic brick in that color. Those "jet engine" things in black were retired in 2010, after appearing in a racers set in that year, and the 8x8 grid plate in that color was retired five years afterwards. The 1x2 "rocker bearings" and 1x2/1x4 angle plate in red were retired in 2011 and 2013 respectively.

Got married last month, relocating to Kentucky the 1st of the year (will be telecommuting to my current job). And just been crazy busy with work. Catching up on KZbin a bit now. It's funny watching this as a Transformers collector cause heat activated colour changing stickers are so mundane for us lol, literally every single toy from the first several years of the franchise has something called a "rubsymbol" which is just a black square sticker with a silver autobot symbol outline which when heated up, like by putting your finger on it or, of course, rubbing it, it would light up and reveal either a red Autobot symbol or a purple Decepticon symbol. Rubsigns were also brought back for the 2010 "Reveal The Shield" movie/generations hybrid toyline (And of course any reissues of those original G1 toys obviously), and have probly been brought back to smaller degrees in other cases that I'm not aware of. They were even used in one comic as a way for certain undercover bots to conceal their faction.

I believe I got my special Lego Alien Avenger time space spaceship to travel the Universe in 1997 from a mall in Kitchener/Waterloo - and I said "Hey Mom - can you please buy me this cool Lego set that I just came across on the shelf inside the mall. It must of cost maybe around $40. I took that spacecraft home and built it. Did you ever do that Crystal?✌️😂
