We know that the Deku Tree had an offspring in the adult era of Ocarina of Time: the Deku Tree Sprout, (and it considering it knows Link’s past, it might be a reincarnation of the same tree.) and that sprout becomes the Deku Tree we see in The Wind Waker.

Fun Fact: the BOTW Deku Tree doesn’t use the last bag, so you can build the Deku Tree Sprout, Deku Babas and Skulltula and all the extras with either model!

A little piece of LEGO jargon, the "little golden pieces" that represent the Korok seeds are called "studs" as they're a single stud piece. If they were square they'd be 1x1 plate or brick. But since they're round, they're just a stud.

I lugged this set all the way home from Tokyo because the Yen is cheap right now and I’d get it tax free. 1000% worth it. Easily the best purchase of my trip. I added a light kit to my BotW deku tree for display. So good!

I built the OOT version but used the additional pieces from the BotW version to make the smaller trees seen around the Deku tree and Master Sword set in the BotW version. I just replaced the foliage of those small trees with the cherry blossom pieces. turned out really well.

I got the set for christmas and finished to build it last week. I made the BotW version because it requires most of the pieces. I’m really glad of the result 😄 I would love to build the OoT set too though

It seems odd that the gem in the Master Sword is blue instead of the usual yellow. Makes it look like the un-upgraded version from Wind Waker. Wonder if there was some production limitation on the coloring.

I feel like I'm well in the minority due to preferring the OOT build, which I feel is just a much better looking form of the Deku Tree, and I just put the Koroks in the Master Sword pedestal area. This is probably partially due to nostalgia, but I do like BOTW better than OOT as a game; I just don't really care for the appearance of the BOTW Deku Tree all that much. I'm also extremely impressed that they somehow were able to make the build look both like something out of the original OOT *and* aesthetically pleasing, qualities I had previously considered to be mutually exclusive. Both builds are spectacular though, and, while the amount of unused pieces stings a bit considering this set's already steep price, I do think it is actually worth the money when you take into account all the new moulded and printed pieces. I imagine they'll reuse some in new sets, though that is assuming we get a new set. I think LEGO could have marketed this set better, with them instead seeming to advertise more towards LEGO fans than Zelda fans, with you being the first dedicated ZeldaTuber I've seen do a real review on their main channel. This set is just oozing with love with all the little details, and I so hope we get to see more sets and more featured games.

I'm probadly going to build both sets digital with MLCAD some day - hope until then all new Zelda items will be available in the L-Draw Library! Didn't have an official Mastersword in my Lego-Zelda-movie, I needed to stick with an ordinary greatsword with a blue colored hilt... :-D

So there is a Video, If You build the Breath of The Wild Version you can still build Multiple Enemies, trees, and items from the Ocarina Version and combine them.

I also prefer this version. Luckily it just fits within my display case. No really. If it was one com broader or longer, It wouldn't fit. As mentioned in your video about the OoT Deku Tree, you can turn Link and Zelda (kinda) into their TotK versions by adding brown hands as gloves (works for both versions. Really don't understand how the designers missed that detail) and cloaks. For Link works a short dark blue one. I got one from a speciual Elrond minifigure that was delivered with Lego Lord of the Rings 3DS. For Zelda does the long, slim gray cape do the job. You can get one from The Mandalorian sets, where he doesn't wear a jetpack. Also a torch. Addendum;: It would be wasted potential to not use the Deku Trees talk function at least once for an intro, wouldn't it?

The Deku Sprout is part of the OoT model! The big tree doesn't look "dead," but you could remove the green leaves or something.

Well, contacting Nintendo probably wouldn't amount to much of anything, especially with how many fans probably throw similar suggestions at them all the time and with the language gap since you'd have to contact the Japan branch specifically (it's just better to let them find such ideas naturally,) but a part 3 would be fun 🤔

Thanks for the breakdown. If I buy this set, I will build the Ocarina Deku Tree simply because he's my favorite. But it's clear from its placement on the cover and the fact that its instructions come first that the BotW tree is the primary build. The designers then figured out how to make the OoT tree from the parts with a minimum of additional ones. Its like that for all the multi-builds. One is always the main build.

The price per piece ratio isn't that high when you take into account all the new pieces molded exclusively for the set, no stickers for the printed pieces, and the fact that it's a licensed set and a Nintendo one at that. It's expensive, but not more than usual.
