This is a really great hunt, but much harder then most expect it to be. We drew two tags in December of 2020, and hunted out of Sikanni River Ranch. Treat it like a sheep hunt is my best advice honestly. When we were there, the bison were all up on the tops of the mountains higher then most of the stone sheep! Talking to the guides at the ranch, they said in years with minimal snow, this is not unheard of. If the area you are in has lots of hunters the bison will be very spooky, even the noise of a snow machine in a valley will drive them out. We were the only successful hunters while we were there, and ended up getting two bison by hiking into a very remote valley. Ended up being an 8km pack out in -35C conditions. Took us five days to get them both out. Was a hell of an adventure. Would recommend it highly, just be prepared to do some really tough hunting if you want to be successful, or you could just get super lucky as well. Feel free to pm me if you want more details, or advice. Cheers

Hey this is interesting, Ive just got an LEH for bison in that area for the last 2 weeks of october. Debating whether or not I should even bring a sled or stick with the quad for that time of year. Looking forward to it!

@@garrylarose1506 hey congrats on the LEH! hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can jump in and give you some good advice. keep us posted on how you do
@MrLordromanian2 жыл бұрын
@@garrylarose1506 Honestly I would phone someone from the area about a week before you go up. If you are staying at Sikanni River Outfitters, just give them a call to see what conditions are like. The big advantage of a sled is you can go into way more areas, as quads are restricted to designated trails in that zone. From my experience I doubt there will be much snow in late October though. Regardless treat your motorized transport as pack out machines if you want to be successful. Boots on the ground and serious leg work is the way to be successful in this hunt. What zone are you in, D or C?

@@MrLordromanian thanks for the tip. I'll bring a sled! Zone C

"nut deep in snow" is the most accurate description I've seen of a January Pink Mountain hunt, hahaha...it's a tough hunt boys, solid effort. Maybe see ya out and about for Yogi's Sky, keep up the great work

Bison in northern BC are one of the hardest hunts to do. IT may only be surpassed by Dall or Stone sheep. If you want to increase your odds talk to the local Indian Band office. They can hook you up with Native land owners who will let you cross their land....FOR A FEE. Better odds then. Last tip....better clothing and maybe a pull behind trailer with heat to sit in while glassing. Stay warn and good luck. Rick in Kelowna

Way cool! Though not really something I would want to or actually could do. Moral support I could do I think but not without a fair bit of complaining along the way. What did you bring along for shooting equip? And what did you all agree was the most important equip that you would bring next time for sure. cheers! B.

Not sure of the area where you got LEH. We had a draw couple years back by the old airport. Had to pay a fee to the local native band to access the road behind the airport. Was not allowed to shoot the herd that made themselves comfy in the open field by the airport. Had to go past a gate to access the road, shot at the end of the 30km road. Great videos, keep it up.
