Great content; I especially loved the shots in Rochester. Seeing it alive with operations and workers is amazing and surreal to me. I've walked through the Junction area a few times, studied it extensively, and just adore this railroad in its heyday. Thank you for uploading this, John.

It's somewhat surreal to see both the Auburn and Lehigh Valley roads in their active days. I absolutely love biking on them now, especially the Auburn. I wish that there was more footage of the Auburn.

I love the shot of Republic Steel and Donner Hanna Coke during tifft yard scene. At the very end you can see the steam from a coke quench over the RS-3's hood. Great stuff!

Just after CR, I was at a convivence store next to the tracks, when a train to Cincy went by and I remember seeing red(through the back door) and no. 507 flashed by. The LV U Boats were commonly seen in the Columbus/Cincy area after CR. CR used lots of U23Bs out of Columbus.

This video reminds me of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad in Pennsylvania. I have fond memories of running around and enjoying all of the sights and sounds (including the smells) of a Railroad . now all the buildings and track are gone . my suggestion to everyone is . take pictures and learn how to Model Railroad and replicate the scenes you remember . Ray in Pa.

I went to Niagara junction a couple weeks ago, it’s all grown in and hidden. The foundation to that building is still there at 5:10

4:00 those are all hiking trails now. If those boxcars are for scrap, i bet one of them becomes the one still sitting in Rochester Junction right now. In 2018, the scene ate 4:03 is surrounded by forest.

If our govt. had set out to destroy the railroads they could not have done a better job. And maybe that was their goal all along.

Awesome....just awesome stuff. They ripped up the wrong railroad.....
@GodspeedProductionsStopMotions9 жыл бұрын
jdhogg1969 that is so true. My mother and her family had a house, and not to far from their backyard was the hill with this railroad on it going west. Sadly, they took out the hill, tracks, and most of the bridges. But when I drive down the street on the corner, and I go under where the bridge used to be, I can see the leftovers of a giant truss crossing over the main line... It makes me so sad that I never ever got to see a train on it... hopefully they will bring back Buffalo railways after they renovate the terminal... at least I heard they are renovating it... even worse I heard some idiot wanted to tear down the terminal.. I mean that is a piece of history...

The Lehigh Valley had some nice paint schemes. The deep red was my favorite. Great scenes here. Didn't they end passenger service in 1961?

@saintangerinc You must be referring to Ken Bealer's footage. The rest of the footage has never been published by another producer. While the Ken Bealer footage may be from the same source, it was digitally transferred and restored from the original film by JPM using high resolution equipment.
