Did the nursing accreditation board take into consideration there are still a lot of nursing students in the program? They paid a lot of tuition money into the program and it is not fair for them to have it wasted like this. It is ruthless and cruel. I just hope they can work this out as soon as possible or give them the option to smoothly transfer to other CUNY colleges that have the nursing accreditation programs.

I am a student here and you do not want to go through this. If it happened to me, it can happen to you. Lehman knew they were at risk of losing their accreditation at failed to notify students. All the while they are currently seeking accreditation for their DNP program. I hav two other degrees and have never had to go through anything like this. I didn’t even know such a situation could exist. I don’t think it’s an ultimate reflection of CUNY schools themselves, I believe it’s a poor reflection of Lehman, the nursing department and administration within Lehman.
@princesjasmyn
@princesjasmyn 3 жыл бұрын
It should be mandatory that schools must disclose the status of their accreditation including periods of "accreditation probation". Lehman had know of the possible loss of accreditation in 2017 and never disclosed the fact that they were having difficulties maintaining accreditation status. Higher education is one of the biggest scams in America. Please, if you know anyone currently in their nursing program, I would advise them to transfer. Future individuals looking to enroll into their nursing program should look elsewhere. Lehman should remove the director/chair senior staff from their position and work on building a better program with more qualified leadership. Until that happens, Lehman will continue to have poor outcome and an even worse reputation.

It's not the school's class passing rate that determines accreditation but rather what percent of students pass the national exam. My nursing school is actually at risk of losing accreditation because its NCLEX pass rate is so low. Students are passing their classes but that is only because we all use test banks to get through them. The professors do not want to teach nor do they care about their students' success. The powers that be need to be taken to task for this, punishing current students because less than 80% of the former class passed the exam?!? Sounds like utter bullshit to me. There should be a way to sanction the college, and push them to teach to a higher degree to meet the criteria for this exam - WITHOUT hurting the current students. This seems like an antiquated, harsh and imbalanced approach to trying to garner higher expectations. These students have worked their asses off and most have probably even taken out major loans to afford to study at Lehman, to now learn all that time, energy and money was for nothing?!? Lehman is not "cruel", lady. They were aware what the accreditation requirements are, but they chose to accept students (probably for financial reasons) who simply were not going to cut it. But the blame falls solely on the students who are either too dumb or too lazy to succeed and to meet the required accreditation rates. But that's what happens when our high school graduate people who are nearly illiterate, and universities are accepting students who should never be in college. College degrees have been highly devaluated for years now, and I for that reason strongly support the withdrawal of accreditation.

Yeah right in tears because she won’t make that money. An FNP gets a salary bump over 100k and that’s way too much money be paying for nurses. Frankly I think all nurses and doctors are way overpaid! The roots of the problem for bad healthcare and lack of health insurance is this the high salaries of these profession. People need to wake up. And what’s a disgrace is the paramedics are the ones who actually get like crap but they are the ones first on scene and deserve more than way they’re being paid 35-45k a year.
