An excellent video Jonathan. I was familiar with your name in photographic dealer circles but never saw you personally until now. Keep them coming and hoping your work on here generates you additional business.

King of Bokeh? Would the designers of the Summicron recognize Bokeh? Would Adams, Cartier Bressin, Doisneau, Koudelka, Newton, etc. have any use for Bokeh? To sum up: does Bokeh really have much to do with photography?
@WorldwideCameraExchangeАй бұрын
Bokeh is the part of a photo that’s out of focus, and so obviously it plays an important role in photography. However, its appeal is subjective-some photographers may place high value on its qualities, while others may not. If bokeh’s ‘feel’ isn’t significant to your photography, that’s perfectly fine. But we should all respect others’ artistic preferences and the role bokeh may play in their vision.

@WorldwideCameraExchange OK, but...Given the inherent depth of field in the 35mm Summicron, a wide angle lens, wouldn't it make more sense to hunt for a king of bokeh in a longer focal length?
@WorldwideCameraExchangeАй бұрын
@jeremykeller211 it’s only a nickname. Presumably enough photographers agreed to establish it as part of the Leica legend. Try this and try others. Make up your own mind.

@@WorldwideCameraExchange Nicknames are fine sales tools, even if the consumers do not understand them. Leica could maintain that their cameras have a higher content of pflogistin than any competitors---a sales point!

After one week of owning a mint copy, it took a small hit to the hood and the whole optical block became extra loose. Having owned several leica lenses from the 30s to 80s I was not very impressed with the build quality of this model, as mentionned the aperture ring dosen't feel that good and to me it felt very light and "flimsy" out of the box. That being said I can't take away the fact that it is optically beautiful and a very neat and compact design.

Maybe needed CLA directly as you got it?

@@Bornisen I doubt it, it was in almost brand new condition with perfect optics and smooth focusing, no play either. Just a small hit made it completely loose. Never had that happen with older leica lenses.

The chrome brass version of this is built better but at a premium

All this talk about lenses and bokeh but not one example image?

KZbin videos don’t do it justice. And there are plenty of examples online.
