So good to see John Brockliss talking about his work and techniques. He has been all over the world and made books of many of his photo journeys from St Kilda to the USA - all of his books are fantastic I might add. He worked with me over a period of two years documenting my work as artist in residence at Deanland Airfield and produced another lovely book which I treasure. We have ended up firm friends as got to know each other well during that period, John's knowledge of photography is second to none. In 2018 we had the joy of working with Antony Penrose (Lee Miller's son) on a joint exhibition of the Deanland work (John's photos and my paintings) at Farley Farmhouse Gallery, near Hailsham which is home to the Lee Miller archives. Thank you so much for posting this wonderful film, I'm going to watch it again now!

Thanks for your kind response. The half case I use on my M-Monochrom (Typ 246) is a genuine Leica half case. This was the first one I have used and has been a good investment. My Mono camera body is as good as new despite frequent use and travel. Although it makes the camera more bulky I have found it very useful. Kind regards, John

I really liked the work, and, because there’s a number of coincidences (I use an M9 and an M10r albeit I only do colour, and did my Phtography MA at Brighton) i can see myself in his shoes. I think the images of the pier are particularly interesting. Brighton, in general, is a very attractive place to photograph

Is it a M9 M you use - I got the impression its the Type 246 of 2015?

Excellent video. Very interesting and beautifully constructed. Hope they extend the Exhibition because of the Covid disruption and rules with Sussex now in Tier 4.

Hi Keith, thank you, The exhibition has been extended through most of January. Have a look at the West Pier Trust website.

Thank you Keith - great to know you enjoyed Kris's video. The Shoreline Exhibition is now closed for Christmas and until Brighton emerges from the new Tier 4 COVID rating. I will run updates on the news section of my website (ww.johnbrockliss.com)

John uses 35 and 50mm Summicron lenses. He does have others and uses them as and when he needs them.

Great interview and superb photographer. But the strange permanent guitar music is totally irritating.
