Never expected these guys to pop up when searching for Leica M10-P reviews. Better than a lot of others out there, good job!

I've been covering photography at PCMag since 2011. Bought my first Leica as a 20something pup (an M8), paid it off on a 0% credit card (on time too, worked my butt off to do so!). I don't have the M8 now, but do have a Typ 240 that doesn't get used enough, as well as M3 and CL bodies, and a heck of a lot of vintage M lenses. I love the look of the old glass. The point being, I think PCMag covers Leica better than some of the "big" camera sites. (Although DPReview is better now that Barney bought himself an M10). -- Jim

@@PCMag Hey thanks for your reply Jim. That's awesome! I'm sure you enjoy and appreciate the M8 that much more. I did something similar with my first Leica, a used M9-P, and have also successfully paid it off. I've more recently purchased a M-P (Typ 240) on a 0% card and am working on paying it off. Haven't used both enough to decide but honestly want to keep both. You're right about vintage glass. I want to start with a 50 Summicron Rigid. Currently have a 50 Lux ASPH and Noctilux F1 (0% card) and not sure which one to keep. Heart tells me Noctilux, mind is telling me Summilux. Anyway, I really enjoyed your review and learned a lot from your knowledge about Leica. Nice to see "average joes" shooting Leica, breaking the stereotype that it's just for "rich snobs". - Ayas

​@@spoolindsm127 50mm Lux ASPH is the only modern lens I've got from Leica. It's a gem. I know circular bokeh is in, but I love the hexagons you get when stopped down a little bit. My favorites are the 5cm Summitar (mine is from the late 40s) and Dual Range Summicron from the 60s. I also really dig the first 28mm Elmarit, with the deep rear element. I did sell the M8 to help pay for the Typ240. Not going to lie, despite having all the latest and greatest camera tech at my fingertips, there are days where I wish I could pick it up and take it for a spin again!

@@PCMag Thanks again for your reply and insight. Yes the 50 Lux ASPH is a gem. It ticks off so many boxes. I think I will regret selling it. At the same time fast glass like the Noctilux is irresistible. I mean, it's an f/1 after all... I will look into the Summitar and Elmarit. I did some research on the latter and was considering the newer ASPH version for its size. The 1st 28 Elmarit is a bit of a collector and expensive. I've read the DR Cron is the sharpest version. Really intrigued by that lens. I've recently sold my Nikon D750 and most of my F mount lenses. Trying to use only Leica while my eyesight is still good. I wouldn't mind if I never switched back ;)

10:50 I wish there were more options in this category. I would love an alternative that was affordable. I was hoping Zeiss would team up with Sony to create a digital Ikon Rangefinder.

There are rumors of a Zeiss/Sony collaboration, but not pointing to a rangefinder. Photokina is next week-we'll see if anything is actually announced or if it's just noise. Your best "budget" option is a Sony a7-series camera with an adapter. It's not an optical viewfinder, obviously, but is a good platform for M lenses.

And still the only (minus its variations) digital with a manual shutter cocking lever that I know of! Never owned one, but did shoot with the M8 for a couple of years. - Jim

PCMag Hoping for Epson RD-1’s reincarnation someday and as a FF sensor then Leica would have a real competition. BTW, Yashica’s Kickstarter Y35 Digifilm requires you to advance the lever prior to taking a photo.

PCMag I just thought it was worth mentioning but the camera itself isn’t worth it. Cool concept but a real disappointment in the photography community.
