At 3:51 .. what do you think happened on the tree (left side of the picture). It shows something like halo effect.
@deemdoubleu8 жыл бұрын
Did you use a filter on the lens? Doesn't look like it on the video but you get good definition in the sky (something I find difficult to get usually).
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
No, I process the negatives with my computer. That's how I recovered the sky. When I print my pictures in paper with an enlarger, I also expose some zones more than others. The negatives are just negatives (in my opinion) they need to be processed, just like RAW digital files. :)

Awesome video! The shots you took look better than a lot of pro photographers out there using high end cameras!
@ProSimex848 жыл бұрын
ThatPyotr it's a leica M3, it doesn't really get more high end then that!
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
it depends on what you call "high end" and in what area you conceive such concept... the Leica M3 is not the most expensive nor high end Leica 135 camera at all: a M6 or an MP will cost three or five times as much. if our idea of "high end" includes digital and film 135 cameras, an M3 costs less than 1/4 of an advanced prosumer camera (say, for example, a 5DmkIV). if we think that "high end"includes digital and film cameras in all formats, it costs less than 1/12 than a digital Hasselblad...!
@ProSimex848 жыл бұрын
EduardoPavezGoye well yes, you can always get bigger and more expensive. You can consider that the M6 or MP are just slightly different M3s, they have a meter sure, but so what? And cost isn't everything, sure you can spend big money on a digital body, but it won't have nearly the lifespan of your beautiful camera. I would say it's ability to create beautiful images over the span of a few lifetimes with minimal upkeep is what makes it "high end". Thanks for the videos, I really enjoy them.
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
ProSimex84 yeah, I get what you are saying. that's what I mean: "high end" is quite an abstract notion, and if we narrow it down to something more concrete, we get very different answers. :) thanks for watching, man!
@markharris57717 жыл бұрын
EduardoPavezGoye To me "high end" means the proven pedigree of the camera and if Henri Cartier-Bresson used a M3 then it is high end. But it isn't the camera that takes the shots, it's the photographer. The camera is purely a piece of engineering (but a superb piece in this case) that fine tunes the image.

How did you develop that film? The tonality is really odd for apx (look at the blacks) or the scans are just messed up (?) Secondly, it seams grainy but that might be just in the yt video. Good video anyway, let us all cultivate film :)

Beautiful video, beautiful camera! Loved it! It appears as though your camera needs a service, though. The leading shutter curtain looks like it's moving too slow, and some of your images have a dark zone on the left side. A quick calibration by a tech, and this camera will perform like new. The M3 has to be one of the most beautifully designed machines in history. Again, amazing, inspiring video!
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
+Adam Lee yes. it was working fine before, but this roll showed me problems at 1/1000 so in all my other videos I'm just using it at 1/500 tops, until I can save enough to send it for a repair. ;)

Well, wow. These shots look far sharper, much less grainy, and overall better than the Canon A1 you featured. Is that down only to the camera? Should I just return the Canon and save for a Leica?

So when out shooting one roll of film you will change the lens depending on the situation? Sorry I know it sounds like a dumb question. I just got a M2 and a Canon 50mm 1.4 and thinking about what other size I should look into. Thanks Eduardo!
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
jesse hayes don't worry. I'm glad to help out! this is the only video that I changed lenses. usually I just use one, and that one is usually a 50mm, because is my favorite. If I can give you an honest piece of advice: don't buy another lens until you feel the absolute need to do it. for example, if you start to realize you always back away from your subjects and decide that you want a wider lens (maybe a 24mm or a 17mm), or you discover that you like taking portraits with shallow depth of field, and you start looking for a nice 85mm or a 135mm. it really depends on what you want to shoot and how you want to shoot it. but for now, if I were you, I would just stick to the 50mm and master it before thinking about buying more lenses. I used exclusively a 50mm for street photography for three years straight. buying stuff is addictive (you always want more) and takes time from shooting, which is what really matters. so, in short: grab that 50mm and shoot like there's no tomorrow. :)
@jsshayes18 жыл бұрын
+EduardoPavezGoye That all really makes sense. I will definitely take your advice and stick to the 50mm I just got. Just found you on instagram as well and followed you. I am loving the most recent B&W photos you have posted on there. They have an awesome mood and vibe to them. Thanks again man!

I have a LEICA M3 with light meter working and 2 lenses can you tell me if worth something because I saw wide prices on those lens maybe because the serial number affect the price the mumber inside of the lens is that a serial # ? I HAVE: Ernst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar Summicron f=5cm 1:2 Nr. 1328084 AND ALSO Ernst Leitz GmbH Wetzlar ELMAR F=9CM 1:4 Nr. 1353131
@edpavez9 жыл бұрын
+Edmundo Granados I'm not an expert on pricing at all, but from what I know, a Leica M3 double stroke goes for $1000 if the viewfinder is bright and it's just been CLA'd... but it can cost more if it's a single stroke, or some rare model. I don't know much about lenses pricing on Leica (there are many versions for each lens), but The Elmar 90/4 usually sells for about 200 and, according to ebay, the Summicron f=5cm 1:2 goes from 600 to 1300. Hope this helps!
