Hi Eduardo great video, how do you measure the light when leica m3 has no light meter and i noticed the light t a little dim, thanks
@lilyaraujo18068 жыл бұрын
Ed, thank you. Because even if you think that nothing's going on in a video like this one, you're inspiring people out there, little by little, to move their butts and go outside to take pictures. For some time now, I've had a DSLR on my hands, and even though I have so much fun when I play around with it, and even after a lot of people have complimented my photos, I've been shy about photographing for YEARS. But now I'm taking a step forward and next month I'll start a small basic course on professional photography (I actually have zero technique, I just take pictures while playing with exposure, iso and so on by intuition, and I'd like to explore analogue photography one day). Wish me luck!

Damn ! But how do you get your photos so clear and sharp while aiming so quickly with the M3 ? It takes me hours to clarify and with street photography it's completely impossible , I have too much blare! And then how do you find the aperture/speed so quickly ? Plus, from what I've seen, you don't have a light meter ! For me it is an "impossible mission"

Great work and interesting outing. You have a great eye and are prepared and fast. Some shots that stood out: Snack man at 1:21, has an emotional, disgruntled look; candid shots are way better than reaction smiles. Worker at 2:22, he looks completely unaware of you and his whole demeanor shows real character. Girl in the window at 3:45, the open aperture selected helped you disappear into the bokeh. Bobby at 4:22, captured great expression of cop looking disbelieving at taxi driver. Break dancer stretching for performance at 4:32 with beat box crew in background. Perfect moment (my personal favorite); tells a story far better than a later action shot would have. It looks frameable.

what was the general shutter speed were you using for these photos? they seem so crisp. i have found when im walking around i get shake even at 1/500 if im not careful. i love the look of the photos im not having the same success with the m2 i recently bought. practice makes perfect i suppose.
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
+Bill Pickle (IGR) oh I'm used to shoot at very slow speeds. my camera needs to be adjusted because it fails at 1/500 so most of these pictures were taken between 1/250 and 1/100 except the last ones, which were shot at about 1/30. :)
@billpickle28758 жыл бұрын
+EduardoPavezGoye ive been aiming for 1/1000 at f8 and pushing to 800... maybe i just need to slow down instead of trying to quickly take the photo. i noticed something in one of your pictures that seems to happen on my camera at 1/250 occasionally. like the last 1/4 of the photo has an under exposed section. it happens randomly with mine. usually at the start of a roll. can be frustrating.

I always enjoy your videos, you are so cool and talented! I was wondering why are you using some kind of magenta filter in front of your lens?

it's an UV/IR filter. the Leica M8 needs an IR filter (otherwise it renders black fabrics as purple), so I keep the filter on in my lenses. :)

Do you use a light meter with the m3? Your exposures a pretty spot on! Or did you adjust in post?
@edpavez8 жыл бұрын
+Kenneth Kum I use a free app called "Light Meter". I meter the light, the shadow and then adjust accordingly as long as the light stays consistent. I talk about it in here (you need to press "CC" to get the subtitles): kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y3jKnpZrnqaKb7M
@JP1050x8 жыл бұрын
+EduardoPavezGoye +Kenneth Kum The light meter app works really well! I find it tends to underexpose in bright contrast light, probably to control blown highlights for the iPhone. The Luxi incedent light meter add-on helps to give more precise meter readings, which are generally 1 stop over the normal reflective meter readings. So if you use the reflective mode, then overexposing by 1 stop will generally give you a more accurate film exposure. Great job on the video, thanks for sharing! :D

How do you wind the film and always know how to leave a little bit of the leader? I tried doing it and always getting the cartridge with the filmm fully wound in.

You just feel when the film leaves the spool. It loses tension. I know more or less how long it takes to wind, so I start paying extra attention to the resistance of the film, near the end!
