Cool video! What are the current recommended system requirements for running Leica Cyclone? how much the video card is loaded?

We acquired an RTC360 because it is fast and light. We did a forest road and creek (100 meters up a gulch then 100 meters each way on a creek)...91 scans in one day (this would've taken a week or more with the P50). It is finding the targets we had set up so that's good. It also identified a lot of other things which are not targets, such as tree branches, etc. Do I need to delete those?

Yes, you should remove erroneous targets.

I just finished 132 setups on a 3 acre site. It has 11 control points. I used a prism pole with paddle target which worked out to 1.500 meter target height. The control points are also GCPs for aerial photos. It only applied the better half of the control points but I check them all on and re-applied. The worst residual is 3cm all vertical which is sufficient for our needs. The horizontal residuals are wonderfully small. We did this project on low resolution which cut down the file size to about 25% of medium resolution. I was a P50 user but the RTC360 is faster and lighter, obviously the accuracy is not quite as good.

Why does setup-1 not recognize target 1? It is the closest setup to this target? Do you have an explanation? Are there any parameters (scan position, distance,..) that should not be neglected? Thanks for your answer

Hi Nicolas, thanks for the question. In this situation we used printed a4 targets and they weren't as clear as a normal target, I wasn't too worried as it was a training exercise for the customer and they could learn to manually fit the target in its setup. We have also noticed that sometimes when the target is perpendicular and at the same height as the laser reference, it is possible that it doesn't detect it. With the tilt and turn targets if you turn it slightly up or down and left or right so it is not facing strait on, depending on light conditions with very bright sunlight, then you will have more chance of the target been recognized. We have done many tests and it does depend on the resolution you select as to how far it will recognize a target, our findings are a s follows: With 6" black and white target are for Low Res which 12mm @ 10m is round about 5-8m. With 6" black and white target are for Medium Res which 6mm @ 10m is round about 10-15mm. With 6" black and white target are for High Res which 3mm @ 10m is round about 20-30m. Thanks for the video. How is the control file created and what equipment is needed? Can I create it with a leica TS10 total station? What is it referenced to? Could you point me in the direction necessary to learn this? Thanks

Hi Jack, the control can be acquired by a total station and one would co-ordinate the center of a target or object of choice that can be identified in the scandata, which would either be a created black and white target, a sphere of a Virtual target. The control is in an ASCII text file with Pt ID, N, E, H.

Is there a way to apply control without elevation, just N and E?

Yes. You can apply control but you'll need an elevation. You can use the existing arbitrary elevation in the point cloud if you don't care about your Z-value.
