Leica’s 🔴 Lux App: A $7 Disappointment vs $10000 Kit

I’ve used it for the past two weeks, shooting on the streets of Bangkok. It is awesome. I seriously don’t what you are on about? I have been a professional photojournalist, of 35 years, shoot with a summilux and M11. This app is very, very good.

This video was shot about 5 months ago when the app first came out. There has been several updates since then and I think a major one in August. I got an email from Leica about this app and started looking into it myself. All of the videos and reviews from when it first came out were negative. Would like to see a review now compared to when app was first released.

First off, learn how to shoot with your phone properly. Second, get out of aperture mode and shoot RAW 48MP shots. Lastly, you really think a $7 app is going to be as good as your $10,000 setup? Whats next? Going to compare a disposable camera to a Hasselblad MF? 🙄

I downloaded it and yes, it’s fun but it’s simply nothing but some software skins for an iPhone camera. And even worse, Leica doesn’t even let you buy the app. They want to nickel and dime you to death with a monthly subscription. BMW, Mercedes, and now Leica are trying to take an attempt at the lame business model of subscription for features. Many other global companies have found this business model to be a big disaster, wish the Germans would get with it, as well. I’ll be uninstalling the app later today and just use my actual Leica instead

I downloaded it, took a few shots, and thought it was a joke! 😂😂 What was Leica thinking?, I got the same exact results. It’s terrible!

The app is shite. Dreadful .However, shooting on phones is just shit in general if you use cameras. Magic, as a Somy guy, can you feedback just how shite the Sony app for connecting is too?

You should avoid shooting on many details of edges. Results will be better. Because many aperture mode using like a portrait mode on iphone so it has the same issue one edges.

Odd decision for Leica. I wonder who made it. Buy Fjorden iPhone system, fairly poor in the first place, and stick on a red dot? No thanks, deleted.

As a long time Leica user, this is very confusing, and sad - and it's not even April 1st It's a bit like BMW making shopping trolleys - ones with wonky wheels! - what on earth were Leica thinking? Hopefully it will quickly disappear and minimise the damage to the Leica reputation.
