It was great to see landscape photography with the Leica M10-P, as the 3.8/18 is not very popular during recessions. Especially as the SL2 with lenses is very heavy and I prefer more compact sizes, because I don't want to carry a backpack with the lenses all the time.
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Agreed. The SL lenses are heavy, but the M lenses not so much. The 18mm on the SL and now the SL2 is sweet.

Would be great to see a video comparing the M10-P and SL2 - in particular when and why you use one vs the other. Some of us (mere mortals) can only afford one new digital so any advice you can offer would be most welcome!

@@LeicaCameraAustralia Until you make that video, could you share what features the SL2 has that makes it your choice for "serious" work?
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Easy - autofocus, video, weatherproof, world's best EVF, long lenses, etc etc. I love the M cameras, but the SL2 is the correct working tool for me.
@PrideSwim4 жыл бұрын
Before I spent 20K on a non-weatherproof M camera and lens, I would spend 1K on some psychotherapy sessions. I might still buy the camera, but you want to be sure!
@paulsehstedt62754 жыл бұрын
Pretty good shots especially with the 18 mm. My M240 combo includes 21, 50 and 75 plus the EVF. Maybe the 75 will leave in exchange for a 90.
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Hi Paul. IMO the 75mm is too 'close' to the 50mm. The 90mm sounds like a good move. Or pull the 50mm back to a 35mm and you have a good sequence - 21/35/75. But I do love my 18mm!

Lovely images Nick! Just wondering for the landscape photos, are you focusing by using hyperfocal distance or focusing to infinity? I currently own the SL2 but really miss the M10! Thanks for sharing and hope to see more videos from you!
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nalla. On the 18mm it's sort of a hyperfocal distance thing - but I'm only guessing the distance. I just pull back the focus from infinity a tad and that seems to work pretty well. You learn by experience what lenses can do.

How do you find the screen quality in live view mode? I'm currently shooting on an m240 but the live view isn't great if viewing from a slight angle. It's the screen on the m10 much better? Just wondering if it's on parr with the SL screen
@LeicaCameraAustralia Жыл бұрын
Yes, M10P (and M11) much better than M240.
@DerBerger693 жыл бұрын
did I get that correctly ... you took the panorama shot of Time Square by hand? How is it that all the people in the foreground do not appear blurred in 6 individual images, although they are moving?
@LeicaCameraAustralia3 жыл бұрын
Yes, no tripods were possible in that situation. Hand held with an 18mm lens. No-one was really moving, but you can use the anti-ghosting function in Lightroom to moderate double images.
@dgoullet14 жыл бұрын
What do you enjoy more a Leica Q or your M? thanks
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Impossible to say, very different design paradigms. But I actually prefer my SL2 over both! That's my go-to camera.
@Gravitys-NOT-a-force4 жыл бұрын
To prevent accidental scratches on your lenses do you routinely cover your lenses with clear, UV filters? Are UV filters a detriment to the technical quality of your photos? Is that a "given"? Do you use a filter for your cloud shots?
@LeicaCameraAustralia4 жыл бұрын
Decent quality UV protector filters are a good idea and you should not see any reduction in quality.If you are shooting at light make sure you take them off because you can sometimes get slight double images of any bright lights e.g. in a city skyline shot. And take them off if you are using other filters like a polariser or a ND filter.
@Gravitys-NOT-a-force4 жыл бұрын
@@LeicaCameraAustralia , thanks very much for your response. I think it would be interesting to see a video on the visual effects offered by the different filters available.
