There's nothing wrong with a feature but it needs to be there for a purpose. For an Afrobeats song she picked an artist who elevated the track. If Jesy hadn't picked Nicki Minaj and had gone with a lesser known artist there's no way it would have gone to number 5. Nicki didn't add anything to the song except hype.

From an unbiased opinion because I like them both Numbers wise : Jesy did better charts wise with a higher number for her debut week and being able to chart in the us charts without really coming here to promote. Leigh Anne did well on the charts as well for her debut solo slightly lower but she stayed on the charts just as long as Jesy's debut solo did on the uk charts.She didn't hit the charts in the us charts Roll-out wise: Due to the controversy with Jesy's solo single her rollout was horrible to build off of it. She started performing live earlier in her solo career than Leigh Anne since we saw her perform on tv during the roll-out of her first single but made bad choices for her live performances which could of helped to win people over from the controversy and she hasn't really done public appearances outside of those performances and tv interviews (understandable since her history) but it could of helped to change the narrative. She did the ig live with Nicki but we all know how that went. Leigh Anne did not perform live right away for television for her roll-out but was consistent with her promo and even made an effort to promote it in the us. Since people really showed love to her in little mix during the touch acoustics she choose to release unplugged r&b version video of Don't Say Love. She also released more behind the scenes videos, a tik tok dance challenge, and her own interviews to create hype around her solo career. Both ladies did good on their interviews but it was interesting to see the route they both took when addressing little mix since it shaped their future interviews and what the media picked up. Roll-out Wise it seems that Leigh Anne has done better for her solo debut. Second Single Wise: Numbers Wise: Leigh Anne did better since Leigh Anne has charted. Jesy's second single did not chart Roll-out wise: Both girls had a great roll-out for their second singles and had a great flow they kind of switched methods. Leigh Anne is doing more live performances for this roll out and Jesy went for an unplugged acoustic approach. Jesy did less interviews of this one and tv appearances for this one before going on her hiatus. Jesy Pros: Jesy debut was highly anticipated she was the first one from little mix and since she had a big collab for her debut. It was smart to get Nicki. Nicki worked with Little Mix before so there was some relationship there and it would be easy help to get some buzz in The U.S. and the approval from Diddy as well. Jesy Cons: Jesy does not handle controversy well so for interviews she does well answering them for the most part but doesn't do well with how she handles with what the media picks up from those interviews. She also waited a long time for her second single to release due and when it did come out she didn't have a label backing which is why it should have been promoted a little harder. It was her first single without a feature as well Leigh Anne Pros: Even though she chose to do her solo debut with no feature she has done more collaborations which gives more material and ranges for us to here her in in this era in the time she has been out. She also has handled her controversy well by choosing to release an interview on her own terms and subtly addressing the Jesy controversy and how handling the little mix drifting rumors well which gives her interviews a more fun and laid back feeling Leigh Anne Cons: She chose a direction that is a little different from the Little Mix sound even though it is very authentic she will have to work harder promotion for the numbers due to the sound she is doing. She is also working with artists that don't bring in bigger numbers but she are working with people she truly want to work with not off of their numbers.

In terms of hype and numbers Jesy did but in terms of being steady and consistency Leigh Anne has done far better. The first person to go solo from a group will always get the best numbers first, thats a proven fact. As an artist you want people to continue to listen, stream, and watch your content. I think both artist had a amazing debut . I know the back and forth between these two singers were horrible. It hard to even think of it especially they were both in Little Mix . LM is my favorite girl group and will always be . Jesy is my favourite member and Leigh is amazing vocalist in the group . One thing I will say is , I feel that mess everything up between these two was the fan base. Their reason why I don’t like some fan bases because there always drama and make up stories which make the artist look bad . But I will say Jesy since her vibrato is amazing and her new single “ bad thing “ was amazing ✨ but Leigh did has a amazing debut too . Both incredible singers !!

Their was no back and fourth it was all in Jesys end and people even non mixers instigated it to the max which made the drama spread which I’m not too upset about because basically everyone but jesy fans had Leigh’s back rightfully so. Jesy ruined her own career tbh. Leigh’s debut was beyond better because she had no major artist or anyone period which is brave. She also is a way better vocalist honestly and is drama free. Jesy Is talented but she’s not meant to be a solo artist imo. She needs other stronger vocalist to surround her.

I feel like she's played it safe with her voice since LM5 (in live performances) whereas Leigh has the opposite, her confidence grew and she proved herself the most creative vocalist of the 4 in my opinion , Leigh's live vocals usually out do the studio for me. I wish both ladies the best because I think both are great and unique singers with good hearts. I hope Leigh's sings start to get the attention they deserve because both are obvious bangers and I hope Jesys second single gets the attention it deserves because it's a very beautiful and haunting song. I think Jesy was wise to take this break and really find herself without public opinion to knock her down and find the confidence in her voice again.

@@dylanwhelan3962 I don’t think she lacks confidence in her voice that was Leigh’s previous issue and Jesy always sang with confidence imo. Jesys insecure with her image more than anything and also she stays in her comfort zone vocally which is holding her back. I’ve heard her belt high before and she sounded amazing. Secret love song is a small example. She also needs to work on not being overly stylistic because it doesn’t work in every song, her breathy vocals and forced vibrato can be too much as well. However I think she’s talented but not strong enough as a solo artist, I think she needs a group like little mix to surround her.

Boyz wasn’t huge because the lyrics were generic, the video was just a copy of Diddy’s video. Honestly the only memorable thing about that video was Diddy’s beat. I was so excited to see Jesy’s debut, and then I saw Boyz 🤦🏾‍♀️. It might have done “commercially well”, but it was still crap.

Boyz was a flop and only got attention for a short time because of Nicki hun don’t ignore that. Also jesys drama helped but despite that her performance of it and the song period was a massive joke on every platform. Leigh Anne smoked jesy when it comes to them being by themselves in their singles. Look at bad things it hasn’t even reached a million views on KZbin and Leigh’s new song is already half way to passing that as well. It’s embarrassing. Cause Jesy is independent now you cannot compare LA has label support and a budget. Boyz was not right 4 Jesys debut but look what she did with a budget. It was not all Nicki WLM got to itunes no. 1 in 15 countries Boyz did no. 1 in 31 countries on itunes. And Jesy had a hate train so rhe numbers would have been greater. I will always chose Jess over LA. Being able to blow ain't everything uniqueness is best. DSL was better lyrically but LA was co writing 4 LM with Jade so that's experience. I do think LA is the best solo on 0t3 though.

Kelly Rowland, the one who put Little Mix together, said when she first saw Leigh-Ann audition, she doesn’t have a big voice.. it’s an ok voice.. and although she has grown since being in Little Mix, it doesn’t seem like Leigh-Ann has a strong enough voice to be successful on her own… which is why she was put in a band… sorry peeps… these live performances are pretty poor.. great dancing, but the singing and the lyrics are totally average.

She also performed her best performance of my love on children in need and idol. She is proving she is solo material while jesy has shown that she is not. Jesy failed as a solo artist and that’s what you should be saying because that’s the only fact here.
