Hi Peter I made another jig storage box and filmed making it. I have had a lot of requests for plans, but I was not convinced the jig would remain the same size. As it turns out, the jig I was building a second box for was a different size. Instead of plans I showed how I figured out the box and then showed how I made it. I am uncomfortable offering dimensions as the two I have made were so different. I would rather provide a polite no, than provide the wrong information. I hope this response it taken in the same spirit it is offered. I did show how I decided upon the dimensions in the video, that is the best I feel comfortable offering. Be well J

Thanks for the nice comments! I don’t actually have a drawing. It is on my list to do, but that list is super long! I built it bit by bit, while measuring the jig. It never occurred to me to draw it 😀 When I do do it, I will let you know.

Thanks so much for the question and interest. Firstly, sorry for the wait on the reply; I have struggled with the idea of putting plans out there. One of the main reasons is, I did not think that the one model I had would work as a basis for creating plans, as there are different lengths of these jigs. When I recently built a jig box for a friend, the design had changed and my plans would not have worked in that instance either. So I decided to show how I figured out how to build this box and leave the specific innovations up to the individual builder. Please look to the videos I published recently as a resource to help you along your path. I wish I were in a place to be able to create guaranteed plans for all, but I think this is a more responsible route for me to follow. I wish you well in your building endeavours. James

Hi James , thank you for the excellent video for Leigh jigs , can I ask is there a reason that the saw blade is raise to its highest when cutting out the sides of box , many thanks . Brian

Yuppers It means that the edge of the blade is as vertical as possible when the two cuts meet- facilitating a shorter over cut. Though it is dangerous to have that much blade exposed. It is a trade off on safety to do that cut at all to save some time. Work within your comfort level and abilities pls. Be well J

Thanks for the compliment! I did not make this from plans- I just put it together while measuring the jig. I have had a few requests for plans, but other projects keep getting in the way. Making “as built” plans is on my list 😀

Hi James I do have a video series on how I built one for a client. The issue we had just making one the same as mine (though the same model name) is that the jig had changed and by necessity the box had to change. I don’t have plans to share but I suggest you watch the videos on how I did it step by step as a substitute. Be well J

Hi Robert Peter runs the New Brit Workshop, he posted the first video for this jig. He was very kind to me in the way he shared my video, which adjusted his jig. I actually don't have a dimensioned drawing, though I did create a step-by-step video on how I made it. Essentially I was concerned that Leigh may change their jig, so the box would have to change. I own a Leigh Dovetail Jig D4, great at producing a pile of scrap trying to dial this in... and if you use different dimensional stock between projects, you have to dial it all in over and over. It now sits in the corner of my basement and I've learned to do dovetails with a saw and chisels. Takes longer but the learning curve is the same. Expensive lesson.

Me too! Spent sooo much time fiddling with a machining jig, instead of building woodworking skills. But now can't give the Leigh jig away on gumtree. Waste of time and money.

Hi Ben@@benalexlily I see the confusion :) I did not get a material thing like plans, I got the video and figured out how to build it based on the measurements of the DT jig. So I guess what he gave me was the knowledge inherent in his video. All the best J

Hi Mauricio I don't currently have plans for this unit. I am not against drawing them though time is always the challenge. You are the third person to ask this however so I will do what I can!
