Only if you save as PDF and later on save the PDF as encrypted file without possibility to activate COPY command. Even so if somebody would print the document he may scan your signature. In our days nothing is 100% safe.

you can password protect the document by adding document restriction , can't copy, cant print or can't edit just read only

When document is displayed on screen, even if you have copy command restricted in pdf, your signature can be screen clipped and pasted else where.

Of course you can use this method to counterfeit documents or steal an identity. There is nothing to prevent that from happening, that's why usually the person, who accepts an electronic signature takes the risk of being played. (Most firms try to get an ID or simular to verify yourself - faking this would be most likely a crime).

It is typically very difficult to replicate a digital signature if done correctly as the user will need the corresponding 'private key' that was created by the algorithm when the signature was originally created. The user will require both a 'Private key' and 'Public key' in order to replicate it, which only the original signatory would have since the algorithm only shares the 'Public Key' with the document. If the signature is however drawn scanned copied and pasted onto a document then it can be misused, that is why the signature needs to be made via acrobat reader or similar software legitimately. Great tutorial as always. I recently had to do this and did it in a more complicated way. :) However, I really do not see how such an electronic signature can have any practical value. Anybody with a copy of the document "signed" by me can take my signature from the file and use it however they want. The only real signature is a digital signature which uses cryptographic algorithms to verify the identity of the signer and the integrity of the document.

most modern document/contracts have a clause stating an image of your signature is acceptable. if not, you probably have to print it out, sign it, then scan it back to the computer

Hi, great video on how to sign your signature electronically. But I don’t believe the free Microsoft Office app is available anymore? When I look for it all I see is the Microsoft 365 App which includes Word, Excel & PowerPoint and requires a purchase. Anyway would the Microsoft 365 also work for electronic signature? Thanks

The inefficiency we’ve ran into with our work process to signing Mailouts is having to save the pdf I applied a signature to, then reuploading it to the shared file location in one drive. If there was a way to sign it in one drive, I’d love to learn it.

1- Touch screens have not yet developed the speed to follow the cursor of a finger or PC cursors.. closes is using a tablet with pen future 2- The idea of a signature on a document is to have the authentic physical hand signature of a person, Typing it from the app is a temptation for fraudulent persons 3- Therefore, the best option is to sign on a blank paper and then scan the signature, save it to the signatures file, transparent background is easy but is rarely used, the just upload when need to.. Trust is priceless in any transaction

Signing a PDF in Reader, as demonstrated, will save the signature as part of the document. Others signing the document will not be able edit or alter your signature if they are also using Reader. They may be able to edit it if they have Pro. I have both at work so I’ll test that next week.

Nobody can prevent this. But when you send a real paper with your signature also everybody can scan this document, crop the signature and position it under a new document.

@@sunita3549, no, I don’t agree. In this video is only explained how to sign with a graphical signature. It’s not necessary to be connected with the internet during doing that. And what you do with the signed document lies in your own responsibility. You can also sent the signed document via an encrypted e-mail. This would be safe, depending on the trust level of the receiver.

Once again, thank you for your great videos! Actually a concern here is how can you prevent another person from editing or changing your signature? For instance we have PDF documents that must be signed buy several persons. If I sign and save it then email it to the next person to sign, how can we be sure that person cannot remove or modify my signature? Is there a way to lock in a signature?

Not really. In this case a digital signature although more complex may be better.

There actually is. Have a look at digital certificates in Adobe reader, that's how we do it, specifically for multiple signers

Hi Liela. Great video and very useful tips. I created one in Paint 3D by typing and then choosing a script font. Couldn't really draw one very well. Unchecked Resize Image With Canvas to create tight borders around the signature and then made transparent, as you instructed. Worked perfectly. Now I can insert a signature easily into almost any document. Thanks for the great tips :)) Thumbs up!!

Thanks! One quick question though, after signing it, how do I write down the date? I was given options to "sign elsewhere again," which I clicked, to "sign" the dates in. But, it brought out my earlier signature to "use" or "delete." So, I had to delete it and "re-sign" the date. Is that right? Am I missing something?
