This has so many beautiful gems of wisdom! Yes! The thing that struck me the most was your point about whether the job mandates a stressful environment or if you're the one making the stress for yourself by being a perfectionist. Yup. That's me. The perfectionist. Making everything harder. That really hit home! Also, thank you so much for balancing the audio and adding captions for the questions! The interviewer does a great job asking the right questions! Way to go! 🎉

I always look forward to Mondays. My wife (and I) have created a life where work maximises our skills and talents, energises us, and gives us some purpose. Especially with kids there isn't much 'recreation' we can do anymore, like snowboarding, and I get bored within an hour if I had to scroll content on my phone. So work is genuinely the most fun thing in my life right now :) Bonus points if you can make travelling with family part of work. Get those juicy tax deduction dollars!

The main point to this narrative is being missed Leila. You work as hard as you work because you have the passion to help other people achieve their goals and aspirations. Hence, find out what inspires and motivates the person so when they work it translates to achievement in the aspirations and goals inspired to hit.

I can’t speak on the other generations. But I know that for the American young 20ish ppl of today (18-25 years old range) this isn’t the most common case. It’s not that we don’t want to work and that’s it. There’s 2 main reasons as to why that I’ve personally seen and a majority of ppl my age feel like this that I have come across. 1. It’s that we DON’T want to work for garbage companies that are harmful to the world. Companies where execs are doing nasty things behind the scenes, companies that are exploiting ppl, companies that are putting harmful chemicals into their products that we consume, companies that use their funds to run secret massive human trafficking schemes, companies that lie about how much they make so they can “justify” paying their employees/contractors fractions of cents, companies that take shortcuts on safety, etc. We want to work. Just not for crap ppl who do crap things with the funds we help make them. Which is most of the world now of days. Personally, I’d rather starve and be homeless than work for someone who uses the funds I help generate to do awful things with. Of course, we know not every company is like this! But you would be surprised how many actually are. Or reason #2. You use to be able to work full time and have a house on your own and support kids, a car payment or two, have somewhat nice stuff, and put your kids into fun extra activities (sports, music lessons, etc), and have extra to save for retirement. Now, a typical full time job cant even pay for half of that. So what’s the solution? Build something for yourself, independently contract to others, there’s many different avenues to NOT have to go the typical 9-5 now of days. To build something that will spread positivity, promote health, and promote actual evolution in society while NOT harming anyone AND while being able to support having a decent middle class life at the bare minimum. What Leila said in this video here is also a valid and strong explanation. Just not the most common reason as to why I see ppl amongst my age not want to work. Leila and Alex are one of the few big companies who aren’t crap and don’t promote crap. But not all of us 8 billion ppl in the world can work for them. You WILL see a sky rocket in more amazing companies that don’t hide endless piles of skeletons in their closets and who fully take care of their ppl. Great change is coming 💜 Thank you for this incredible video and all your hard work, Leila. You are the REAL top G!!

Your reason number one is spot on and there are a lot if options for us to change this. Reason #2 was never a reality. Home ownership has been around the same rates for the last 70 years. The poorest people now have more material wealth than the middle class of the past. People have tried to convince us that the there was some great past where everyone had everything. That is not the case. It may have been the best in the 90s, but go look at statistics for higher education, homeownership rates, income level, car ownership, sq ft of homes and how many bathrooms people used to have. There is a narrative being pushed that it used to be way better, but it is just not true. Most people were struggling to survive just as much or more than now. If people won't take responsibility for their own life, all of our lives will become much more difficult. Work for a good company, start a good company, vote for good leaders, and make purchases from companies you believe in. I have a podcast called Vote Your Conscience with Kevin Stolla that discusses a lot of these issues. It's on spotify and other platforms.

Ignore this guy!^ Increasing your income is never a failure. Get on the same page with your wife and look towards how you’re going to allocate your finances from this said job into some sort of investments to create additional sources of income to free up your time or have more control over your time. Like she mentioned in this video, passive income. I’m a real estate agent and I have seen so many of my clients begin to make a living off of multiple rentals. It’s amazing, if you’re strategic. I have worked my ass off before and I completely understand how it can take your time away from your loved ones. Let’s be honest, the value of spending time with your loved ones highly exceeds the value of making monetary money at a job that takes up all your time and energy. Good luck! 🙏🏻

So true that avoiding work because it got hard, or was meaningless in the previous company, or maybe took more from a person than gave back, is not the best strategy. It is actually proven that avoidance only adds stress to your mind, whereas taking action builds confidence and resilience skills. The most important thing to do here is - being honest and real with oursselves, and understand what truly is our values, pur passions. That is not an easy task to do, as so often we can take on somebody else's values and dreams, even unintentionally.

Large reason is so many people realized how much money they spend to just work. When you stop working your expenses go down significantly. Example insurance, gas, maintenance, food, cloths, time and so on. I spend about 20 hours commuting a month and about a grand just to work. So people get stuck having more obligations, bills, leading to always needing to work vs lowering expenses.

17:31 I would just like to add as a Gen Zer, with the current housing affordability crises and detachment from reality of local and state governments….remote work / independent contractor has become appealing to be liberated to move away from problems our your control to much more favorable environments and not be constrained by others choices of where you must work … even if you can’t afford a house there …. Which is why people work ….. to actualize their dreams.

It's not that people don't want to work. It's that people understand working is has become a futile enterprise. We want pensions back instead of 401k's. We want a since of Job security instead of feeling like we could loose our job at any time. We want back paid lunch. We want our insurance companies to honor our coverage without raising our rates. We want a positive working environment instead of dealing with phycopathic abusive bosses. We want to be able to take p.t.o. without risking a future promotion. Work is fucked up right now and it's not the workers fault. So when people say screw it and go Uber full time, or walk away from a corporate job for something fun like becoming a bartender, or sell everything they have and walk away and pursue the life a beach bum I really get it. Life is to short to be constantly stressed and miserable.

@Theinsom Hi there! Sure! I had a relocation bonus from my new job that paid for about 80% of the move, so that made it much easier financially. I recommend using a reputable moving company with lots of experience and reviews if you decide to take the plunge. There are lots of scammy moving companies out there. We got very lucky and had absolutely no problems! We moved cross-country sight unseen, but I had done a ton of research on schools, neighborhoods, etc. Somehow, it all just worked out beautifully and was much easier than I thought it would be, thank goodness. My family and I were itching to get out of the state we were in for several years, so it didn't take much convincing. Sometimes, catching opportunities when they come along is all you need to do for your whole life to turn around. I wish you the very best of fortune in your endeavors! 😄

We've equated jobs with money. But there are so many ways to make easy money now. Early Bitcoin investors made an easy fortune. Have a video go viral and you might be able to monetize that. What's the value of money, or being seen as wealthy, in a society where money comes easily and almost arbitrarily to so many? And if you're looking at the environmental impact of capitalism, then minimalism has its appeal. There is so much corruption in the institutions. Who wants to devote their lives to a losing cause within a hopeless system, or contribute to landfills with new products? Maybe it's better to drop out (minimalism) and leave wealth to chance (investments, social media presence, passive income, etc.)

People don’t want to work anymore because inflation is killing people and everyone works to much work balance there’s no work home balance and because of social engineering the elite have stopped people interacting everyone is isolated . This is not just a work issue it’s a society issue. Governments in general are screwing the life out of general populations. Tax tax tax and inflations a tax . So it’s not work it’s work reward . But I agree with Lisa to do these things you need to think deeply most people want to have an army style existence where they are told what to do( especially women). Rather than be independent they cling to big gov and have no idea it’s the worst thing because gov IS NOT THIER FRIEND

The main thing I hate about remote work is I don't get to be around people. I used to work hard for no or little money. Now I can't get myself to work its weird. I don't understand at all but listening to videos isn't helping.

Interesting... I have pushed hard for years to work remotely so I don't have to be around people. My productivity working alone is exponential. I guess the lesson is we need to find the environment that makes us happy & motivated & it can be different for everyone.

Young people don't see themselves achieving the basics that was common 20 years ago. Why work hard if you will rent forever? Why work hard when a truck is 60-80k that was 24-35k 10 years ago? Why work hard to be attractive to opposite sex when Tinder benefits the 5% and nobody wants to be cold approached in public.

This is….not a complete perspective. A good one that I hope to achieve personally however still not complete. Our current society is built on a range of jobs to make it work. From garbage collectors to window cleaners to package handlers, the sheer amount of work to do, that needs to be done, means not everyone will love their job nor will it always go to their full development.

Nah the problem is that work no longer has the same level of reward. Last year, I busted my ass, stepped up in multiple departments and you know what I got? Thousands of dollars LESS in pay, even though I brought in more revenue, was a team player, was someone everyone can depend on. This is a common story, and THAT's why people don't want to work. You can't have a minimum wage job and support a family like in the "golden age" of capitalism. You know they say 6 figures is the American dream? You know when that came out? The 50's-70s. You know what the equivalent is, just from an inflationary standpoint, not taking into account CPI or increase in cost of housing, etc? 800k-1.3 Million. 7 figures is the new 6 figures, and no one outside of Fortune CEOs are making that.

The real reason most young people don't want to work is because of the technology of smartphones and the legal tender laws that allow inflation to exist. I can prove it to you. You're going to be interviewing me one day. I am a master student of Merrill Jenkins. The young people intuitively know something is wrong with the cost of living but don't know why and can't explain it. That which we use AS money has a lifespan mathematically and is going to end soon.

People want “passive income”, not just because they don’t want to work, but because they do want to work, but on something they enjoy, usually big art projects, like learning to make movies, or something else expensive and not likely to return a profit for years.

If you have to be paid to do something, there's your sign. The Bible clearly states that work is our punishment. A few extremely fortunate people get to do something they actually love. Many people just say that they like to work because they feel like that's what they are supposed to say.
