Leimert Park, a vibrant neighborhood in South Los Angeles, is a hub of African American culture and art. It thrives with creativity, history, and resilience, featuring African drum beats and colorful storefronts in Leimert Park Village. The neighborhood's rich cultural heritage is represented by the Brockman Gallery, founded by the Davis brothers in the late 1960s, and the Vision Theater, transformed by actress Marla Gibbs in 1990. Today, Leimert Park remains true to its roots while evolving, with the development of the K (Crenshaw) Line and institutions like Art + Practice enriching the community with contemporary art and support for young artists.
