The 29th episode of The Thelma Tapes is centred around wonderful memories the Leith Walk and Kirkgate areas from the 1940s to the 1970s. We hear tales of the Gaeity Theatre, the Alhambra, David Kilpatricks School, living with the Scott Brothers, earning two and thruppence an hour at The Capital and going to the Kirkgate offal butchers to buy the much maligned delicacy of tripe!

Wonderful. Bella Snodgrass the newsagent! Our dog Peter went along for the paper every morning, he was famous. That’s where my brother and I got our comics, and sweeties after rationing.

people of certain age would not appreciate what these people are talking about. Mostly it's got do with working class and the poor. To have a connection you have to have some memories from those times, it was a experience to say the least. I'm Dublin Irish, we had the very same on this side of the pond. Poverty and class. 🇮🇪🤝🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
