I mean, theft is a theft, and we should never admire thieves. Yea, its a cool story and he had huge balls and was very well prepared (unless he died and was never found), but please don't admire people like him. He threatened the people on the airplane with a fcking bomb. Most of the crew was probably afraid to death, if anything went wrong and not according ot his plan, he could even kill some of those people by his actions. Cool story, but he wasn't a nice person.

This is my favorite theory. For those of you wondering, this is a bit more than just a one line meme. Mainly the fact that people speculate about the origins of Tommy Wiseau (the guy from The Room), who seemingly came out of nowhere with a decent sum of money to produce a film. IIRC he has given several conflicting or strange remarks as to where he is from. Anyway, people wondering about what happened to DB Cooper and people wondering who Tommy Wiseau is eventually resulted in the pet theory that Tommy Wiseau is DB Cooper, which is absolute top tier headcanon

My Dad once had an interesting encounter with a man who he believes was D.B Cooper. In either 1999 or 2000 he was hitchhiking from a small town called Chico in northern California to Seattle and along the way someone picked him up in a white van with a bunch of bicycles in the back, the guy said he was heading to Seattle as well and offered to drive him the rest of the way there. Along the way the guy kept talking about and asking my dad if he'd heard of D.B Cooper and the story behind it before. My dad said he'd heard of it but never really looked into it and so the guy who was giving him a ride drove him to some random places in the woods and was explaining everything about what happened, like where the jump site was, where it was thought he landed and everything. Something interesting my dad noticed was that in his explanations of everything he kept saying "I" but then changing it to "he" when talking about D.B Cooper. I guess my dad thought nothing of it at the time but after that the man dropped my dad off in Seattle and he never saw the man again. After getting to Seattle my dad decided to look up D.B Cooper to see what he looked like and my dad claims that the man looked identical to the depiction of D.B Cooper but since the incident was around 30 years prior and the fact that my dad didn't know where the man went, there was never an investigation into the case.

One of the craziest things is that the plane was actually being tailed by at least 5 other planes and no one seems to have seen him jump either. It's also very interesting how calm he was. It was described that he was calm, well-spoken, even paid his drink tab, offered the flight attendant the change and even showed said flight attendant the bomb when she asked. He even offered to also request food for everyone in case they were hungry, it's like he actively tried to make everyone as comfortable as possible because his issue was not with any of them.

Cigarettes. The brands was Raleigh filters. Raleighs were a mass market brand just like Camels or Winstons. Some people seem to think that it was an exotic brand. It wasn't but its market position was upscale male. Executives and secret agents smoked Raleighs. Major security measures came in long before the 9-11 attack. Passenger screening as it exists today was not started until after 2001 though. The red sticks in the attache case were designed to look like dynamite. It is widely believed that Cooper's bomb was fake. It is assumed that the name he purchased the ticket under, Dan Cooper, was fake but strictly speaking no absolute proof of that. You seriously need to eat your Wheaties.
