@@beetlebat this is not a super popular one, but in a similar vein. there’s an artist called Bryan Scary who doesn’t get nearly enough love. A lot of his songs are little sci-fi/steampunk stories, and they slap to an unprecedented degree. He only has like 20k monthly listeners.

debunking just some things that stood out to me: • the theory that two trucks was inspired from a car crash is actually not true, the idea came from nowhere • the guy in i earn my life actually doesn't off himself, it's just (directly or indirectly, not entirely sure which) implied that he considers it • the thing he falls in love with in amnesia was her name isn't actually his amnesia but the doctor treating him • idk if you talked about goosebumps but that was also added to nature tapes with the 2019 re-release under needlejuice records • this one isn't a debunk but the needlejuice records remasters are top-tier imo, it takes his old stuff and really makes them sound like they could be on the radio • he released 2 singles last year called one weird tip and funkytown, these songs date back to 2017 as unreleased tracks but they're official now • he's working on a new album and on one of his last streams he states that many of the songs are "pretty much done" great video btw

Every time I remember Neil Cicierega is real, I get scared. I discovered Lemon Demon a little while ago and I'm completely obsessed with it. I can't stop listening to these songs, so far my favorite album is View-Monster. All the songs are incredible and I'm amazed every time I listen to one of his songs. they are so unique. I wish I would be able to show Lemon Demon to my friends without them thinking I'm weird.

i've listened to the spirit phone commentary multiple times and it's about the legend of the mellified man, which was an old guy who supposedly only ate honey until his death so when his body broke down it would be a medicinal substance. neil decided that since the subject matter could be taken a weird way he decided to make the lyrics say that it's not sexual which he said "only made it worse" so yeah

I have found he attracts kind of a similar crowd to Tally Hall, Will Wood, etc., but is significantly less well-known. You should check out The Residents. I know, its pretty obvious why I am recommending this band with my PFP, you could say I am a huge fan of the band. Just listen to them (I'd say start with Duck Stab or the Commercial Album, but you can try Not Available if you are brave) and you will see why I absolutely love them.
