Definitely like these oddball non meta build videos. In a game that sometimes gets stale it's a a breath of fresh air to find some of these setups that work. At the same time appreciating your honesty that it's a hard mech to play.

Great video and very ilustrating :D. Thanks! I kind of like the mad dog build... Maybe the problem was that he was in the back all the time as a "pure" lurm boat. But 40LRM + 4 Pulse works nice at midrange in a mobile mad dog. They are all "main" weapons. Cya

If you can constantly use all of them, that's a different story. My gripe is with the "backup weapons" mentality that leads to subpar builds for some perceived security that isn't really there :)

I did dual MRM40's and steath armor on the ecm variant. It's fun.

Yeah, I think you could turn this into a decent left-side peeker. With a standard engine, you could even have an entire dead side for shielding.

You know after watching countless videos of yours I think I’ve figured out your ideal mech It’s basically a 100ton shadowhawk with the high triple ballistic mounts on each torso Barely need to expose to engage the enemy can get 4 or 6 guns on a thinning frame with max armour and min exposure

It is annoying with UAC's because it makes double tapping a little harder, but it is beneficial with wide arm mounts where possible to make each arm its own fire group, so that you can corner more easily and still shoot when you have a team mate obstructing one arm but have a line with the other.
@TTBprime5 жыл бұрын
Thought about it, but decided against it for the reason you're already describing - double tapping two mouse buttons plus a third one for the MRMs gets a bit crazy and will mess up your aim.

To me, all the Hatos, except the 27W, are MRM primary builds. The low slung arm mounts are irksome. My current build with the Shugo is HMG x4, MRM-20 x4 (crit padding and you have the spare tonnage) with a light 280.

About a comment of yours regarding your last victim, the lrm boat with the heavies. I agree about picking a role and sticking with it, but you can't be against a lrm boat packing a few med or small lasers for close in self defense against lights? All my lrm boats and even my mrm boats have a couple to a few lasers just in case - damage knocking out my primary weapons or just running out of ammo (happens). Seems to work fine without violating the TTB rule, eh?
@gfarrell805 жыл бұрын
A couple medium or small lasers will not save you versus anything other than a single already damaged light. If you have two fresh lights or a light and a medium hunting you down, your medium lasers will just make sure that you die hot. IMHO in most cases it is better to trade those close in weapons for either more heat sinks, ammo, or bigger engine so you can be more actively mobile to achieve better LRM firing positions and stay with the team.

I'll add that HML's are absolutely terrible as a backup weapon versus any kind of mobile fast light or medium mechs. If you for some reason you absolutely insist on putting backup lasers on for light defense, for clan, ERuL, uPL, SPL are the only lasers they have short enough burn time and low enough cycle time to actually get decent damage on point versus small pesky lights. For IS, SPL, MPL, and standard ML's are all pretty good vs. lights.

The hardpoint distribution is indeed a big letdown on this mech. On paper it looks great. Maybe get rid of the left arm UAC for an extra MRM launcher? But then you could just go with MRM only on the ECM version, hm. :/ tha

You could try going for 3 Rac2 and SRMs with this mech, with the great armor that would make one hell of a facetime build. Sadly the tonnage/space is a bit lacking and thus the heatmanagement is bad... I just tried building one with 4 srm 6 but with the light engine 275 you only have tonnage for 1 heatsink into the engine and a heatmanagement of 1.1, so REALLY bad. You can do it with 4 srm 2 and even the 290 engine with 2 more heatsinks which brings you up to 1.24 heatmgmt. You could also swap the rac s for 2uac10. I Think this is probably the best build sa it has a 1.48 heatmgmt here for import: Ao;82:H1|\O|7P|i^|Tgpj0|6@|6@|7Pqj0|6@|6@|7P|i^rd0|N@sd0|N@t41|7P|\Ou41|7P|7PvB0|\Ow

Ah I see. Sleipnir does dakka best, Wrath is mixed dakka/missiles/lasers, Wolf Phoenix pretty much only does MRM or srm/ssrm+lasers. If you like Dakka go Sleipnir.
