Imma play devils advocate here. I get what Olivia was trying to say to Wen but it really wasn’t her place to say that. She’s basically using her own life to invalidate his feelings. Its basically someone saying “oh but other people have it worse” how is that supposed to help anybody?! Just because you have a dead mom and criminal dad, dosen’t mean you get to tell other people how to feel. If my father left my mom for a girl almost my age I would be pretty pissed too. Having a broken leg dosen’t mean that my scrapped knee doesn’t hurt.

I mean I get what you're saying, but Wen was complaining about how he hated Sydney, and Sydney ruined his life, and its always all about Sydney. Olivia was getting tired of him complaining 24/7 because she would break her leg for a family. Olivia had every right to be upset at him being ungrateful for what he has, but I think Olivia still could have handled it wayyyyy better than that.

No, he was an ass to his dad and Sydney at every turn. His attitude toward her wasn’t just “upset”, it was nasty. Olivia has been understanding the entire movie, but he really had the nerve to act like that KNOWING Olivia would kill for a family? Maybe be mindful of that.

I feel kind of bad for Wen too here. Like, I get why Olivia gets pissed, but Wen's feelings about his home situation are valid as well. People don't experience things in the same way. That Olivia lost her mother and her dad was arrested doesn't mean Wen can't feel horrible about his dad marrying someone that could be his sister. He's obviously not okay with it. Olivia could yell at the others in the band for complaining about their families and it would be kind of the same thing. They all have problems at home and I think Olivia's issues with her parents suck the most and Wen's possibly the least but it's still something he struggles with.
