You could do a pantry clean out video or a freezer challenge to use up some of the things. That would be interesting to see what you come up with.

As homesteaders we always have an incredibly large amount of food in the pantry and freezers. A whole cow every year, two whole pigs, turkeys, geese and venison from hunting. Our pantry is stocked with canned and preserved meats and vegetable as well as grocery store items from a local grocery store we have that runs really good sales with their coupons and I utilize them to stockpile. We love having lots of options on hand at all times. Great video!

OMG I have never heard it called "bread butt". It is the heel of the bread. I grew up in Ohio, lived in Oklahoma, San Antonio and Seattle. I have been around and "heel" is the end of the loaf!

I noticed in Paiges section she had miso (I think). Take a tablespoon on maple syrup add a teaspoon of miso and mix together well. Put either some walnuts or pecans in a saucepan and toast them, add the syrup mixture. The nuts will get sticky. Add them to the top of oatmeal. Omg! Amazing. I got the idea from Jess Beautician on you tube. She’s a vegan recipe creator.

Loved taking a look at your fridge, freezer, and pantry. What we do is make a list of everything we have and make meals from it then if we want/ need something we don't have we add it to our grocery list.

I would really keep at least one membership. You don’t have to go so often, but it’s going to be real expensive buying your meat anywhere else. Plus, the essentials would be a bit cheaper, and when y’all go to the lake, stocking up on snacks will be easier. Just something to consider!

Vanessa, As you was showing your drink fridge and you pointed out that you had no Gatorade it reminded me that Gatorade is an items that is going to get harder and harder to get. I am not sure why but it's one of those items that stores can't keep in stock due to the shipping problems. Maybe you may want to do a little bit of stock up when you find them again. Maybe think about 1 bulk store just so you can get those things when available. Just have to look out for my Texas Mommas!!!!

I have to look more closely when Aldi has their Germanfest. I recently tried the Marzipan chocolate log from Aldi and I love it. I've heard you speak of them so often I decided to give them a try. Hoping they have more when I go back later this week.

You can make chicken picatta (sp) with capers. There's also fish with capers (I don't recommend lol.) As for the bulk stores, just don't go into the snack section? But definitely go meal plan from the pantry & freezer for 2-3 weeks. My pantry is a bit full from sales between Thanksgiving & Xmas & I occasionally need to make a conscious decision to eat old favorites vs trying new recipes. (Let's not talk about the freezer...the only freezer additions I've bought in a week is a ham steak & 2 bags of cheese & that's hard to fit in lol. Don't ask me how taking a 8 pack of chicken thighs, a flank steak, a bag of cheese & the remains of a Costco bag of potstickers frees up next to no space.) Now to go debate what to cook with the rest of my broccoli & freezer stash of meat for Monday lol.

Great video Vanessa! Can't wait to hear more about your changes for the year. :-) Also, there's a product called "Nano Magic". You may want to look into it for your camera lense when you are filming food you're cooking? It's great for anti fog on glasses while wearing a mask.

Raw meet should be stored in the bottom of your fridge on the bottom shelf so that any raw meet juice won’t drip on your other food and cause tummy upset or cross contamination just don’t want anyone getting sick x

FULL Of condiments! I wish we could buy condiments in minis so that if we’re making a special recipe or new recipe with something we haven’t used before or don’t use often we could buy the mini and not junk up the fridge and be wasteful in a lot of cases!

I totally get where you are coming from with being over stocked. Just the two of us here and we could probably eat for 4-6 weeks (minus fresh produce/milk) with what we have on hand but does that stop me???!!!
@michelel9652 жыл бұрын
I don’t think you have too much on hand for 5 people. Personally, our family is streamlining the variety of things we purchase. For example, chips and snacks. Eat up what we have and rotate around to favorites. If someone wants something particular (since my kids are in college) they purchase that item. We’ve found having too many snack choices, for instance, was causing food waste. Also, we are only buying what we are out of each week, unless needed. That helps a ton towards utilizing those random bags of veggies in the freezer or random rice mixes in the pantry.
