'83 here, graduated in 2001. This song takes me back to that beautiful end of the 90s where my summers were spent hanging out at the local waterpark in the blazing hot summer sun, laying on an innertube, listening to the 90s jams pumping out of the nearby speakers with not another single care in the entire world other than THAT moment right there. Hated this song when it came on in the 90s. Now, it’s a direct path back to another decade that I loved so much.
@rickylafleur58043 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this was overplayed on the radio at the time and I preferred their rock grunge sound in their song Candypop better, but now this song is pure nostalgia and warm sunshine :)

Same here I hated this song when it came out. It has somehow very surprisingly aged very well.
@amorasaki3 жыл бұрын
@@JR-vr2pz I think part of it is because so much music now is layers deep in irony and self-awareness, and this is just straight up earnest about itself. Plus, the melody and beat aren't too distinctly "90's", so it has a little timeless quality

I spent 3 summers working at ice cream stands on the New Jersey shore boardwalk when I was 17-20. This song played all the time on the Lithium station on the Sirius radio. It always brings me back to the boardwalk, going to work at 5pm before the sun went down, all the girls and all the drama among us young adults working together, all the girls who came down to vacation by the boardwalk, smoking the fun stuff out back behind the stand on break, getting the older workers to make liquor store runs for us on break, watching the sun go down while watching the crowd on the boardwalk go from family time to party time, letting loose with everyone we worked with when we got off at midnight. Endless summers, like it was never going to end.

Hey y'all!!! First of all, born in '81. Second, I love and agree with all your comments! I think I may have commented here a few years back, but I think I nailed why this song gets to us... The beginning beat, with the muted echo, the soothing voice of the girl, and the typical voice of the young guy are what you'd hear at the beach or social gatherings back in the day... To this day, I've never heard another song that "feels" like summer more than this!!!!
