Lene Lovich - Supernature (1987)

"Supernature" by Lene Lovich is a cover of Cerrone's "Supernature".
For the original version, in 1977, the lyrics were written by a young Lene, though she was not credited.
She made this version for the compilation album "Animal Liberation" released by WaxTrax! records on April 21, 1987, to benefit PETA.

Lene lovich made the right decision in deciding to " Hand The Musical Baton " Onto Cerrone !! His particular musical producing style was the " Perfect Vehicle " For this superb track !! Lene lovich was/ Is something of a " Niche Artist " Whose " Idiosyncratic Brilliance " Deserves to be recognised!!! From Adrian Browne 1965

I don’t know. They did New Toy together in 1981. This cover was made in 1987

She translated the French lyrics written by Cerrone, but I admit it takes great talent to get this result. I don't think Thomas Dolby was involved in this cover because it sounds more like New Order/Joy Division, a style Thomas Dolby never touched (to my knowledge). Plus WaxTrax (the label under this cover was produced) is a notorious American punk, post-pun and new wave label, so this cover was probably produced by in-house artists.

The original lyrics were written in French by Cerrone (source : French wikipedia page of the original song), then translated in English by Lene. But that doesn't remove anything from her talent.

Ok that's why I HATE HATE 80s gated snare the way they produced and mixed it..That thing sounds like a cannon in a volcano..it takes up so much sonic space that some of Lene's nuance is lost WHY.Peter Gabriel's "Intruder" had that ominous backwards sounding happy accident gated verb and sounds phenomenal.I can't anymore and I think some great songs of the era are virtually impossible to listen to.Please take it off..when I drop the mike I don't wanna hear...ffffFFFFT.

Please, this WAY better than that silly, overcrowded, unflattering discoed up version that Cerrone bloke did of it. "Cannon in a volcano" is brilliantly apt-but you say it like it's a bad thing. THIS is what the song SHOULD sound like. Dark, muscular, dangerous as only the 80s could do. Thank God for it and she should have double-A it with 'Don't Kill The Animals'-hell she did to me. Great stuff, Lene, don't listen. THIS is the one that should have made the Top 3 in the silly UK, not HIS attempt. I also can't take seriously anyone who states anything by Peter Gabriel sounds "phenomenal".

"Cannon in a volcano", yes, and I love this song for this particularly sound, like new order, dead or alive... dark 80 songs, it's in my blood.
