The integration of Linux apps is really interesting for me.. It' s still on its early stages as of the moment however. As a matter of interest, some of my students have reported that quite resource-heavy games such as CofD will play well on these if background apps are closed or paused. Also, using a powered USB hub with 3.5" audio socket and even hooking up a bigger monitor (such as their main laptops) can get good results. Some are also using console input but as an ancient non-gamer I cannot comment on things beyond my experience.

Feels like we've been waiting forever for a Chromebook to come along and grab the niche previously filled by the Asus Flip C101PA. There's a deceptively massive portability difference between the 10.1" and much more common 11.6" form factors. Glad Lenovo decided to break out of the market comfort zone and R&D a genuinely capable detachable. I'll miss the stable lap-friendliness of having a convertible when typing on the bus, but this fills the other 23 hours of my day perfectly.

I have had one of these for about 6 months. I bought a refurbished unit as sort of an impulse buy for $180. There is a game I like, Shine Runner, which is only available on Android so I had been thinking about getting a cheap Android tablet for a while but then I saw this. I have an iPad Air 4th generation and Magic Keyboard/trackpad. It is not fair to compare these devices except that the Lenovo Duet holds its own despite the fact that you could probably buy 4 of these for what I paid for the iPad and Magic Keyboard. The big pros for me have been battery life and portability. I like using it much better as an Android tablet than as a Chromebook. They keyboard and trackpad are not bad and it would make a decent device for a younger student. I have fat hands so it is not ideal for me but I still use it from time to time. The only real downside of it is that the fabric back has a metal band that goes around the outside and it is uncomfortable to hold when you are using it as a tablet. I usually just take it off and use it naked.

I'm tying this on a Lenovo Duet right now. This is probably the best computer I've ever used, all things considered. It does what it's supposed to do and any slowdowns are likely because website hosts are stingy with their bandwidth, not because this machine underperforms. Beautiful screen. I'm afraid I disagree with that game (not Command & Conquer but...): I played it once and I don't think it could have performed better on an inexpensive tablet. You'd need something from Samsung or iPad to get it running better on mobile. But I bought this thing maybe a month ago, so perhaps updates have changed things. I wish it were a 2-in-1 that was just as light and had the same keyboard. I love this keyboard. I love the minimalism of this machine. However, I used to love resting a laptop against my leg or knee while I lay on my back in bed, adjusting the screen to look down on me. Then again, I've gotten used to using the tablet on its own. I just imagine that if I ever want to write something lengthy, being able to lie flat on my back in bed will be missed, perhaps sorely. At this moment, I'm bent down toward an end table that this thing's sitting on, leaning my weight on my elbows resting atop my knees. If I'm going to write a novel or a book to end all the world's problems, I might want to be able to switch body positions more, and on my back is quite a comfortable body position :-)

I would buy it again but it's not very useful for work. If I use it at work it's to check email and read documents. The keyboard is decently spaced and easy to type on. That's it for work. Duet is not setup for using spreadsheets and I compared it to my Acer 715 that is a workhorse. The Duet does not have a 10key pad, does not have a dedicated delete key which are two minimum must-have's for spreadsheets. Another shortcoming is the Duet keyboard has to be on a flat surface. So, for my needs, Duet is not meant to be an all purpose notebook. What I really enjoy about Duet is it's amazing battery life, quick processor, and bright screen.
