Do you need to remove the back pieces i.e. the ram, the hardrive, the battery in order to remove the keyboard and track pad?

It is a fact, everyone can disassemble. Not everyone knows how to reassemble the mess.

As you can see in process, separate each part on the desk. Pay attention to detail of size from screws that attached the parts. So it's not easy to disconnect the cables. But if you feel that it's hard. I suggest that you leave to a technical assistance.

Where is cmos battery?

The cmos battery is under the touch pad and is covered by an aluminium foil.
