@@addiak87 Motherboard says it can support upto 16gig we already have 4gb soldered in motherboard so I can only assume additional slot can take upto 16 gig which will amp up to 20gb in total or it can take only 8gig and reach 12gb which then would be a major design flaw to me on lenovo's part and waste of free 4gb space we could have gotten in my opinion like why would you do that? cant we just have 2 detachable slots instead of 1 soldered and 1 free... No software is required. You can check in OS is ram is ugraded or not by clicking properties of PC or simply type dxdiag in search. To improve performance and speed you can install nVME m.2 SSD

no need to remove HDD bro if you a slot available for SSD you can use it and install your windows in it, then you will see wonders of SSD, and you can keep your 1 TB HDD for additional storage(just like SD cards for phone). As a kid like me who has used HDD and just bought a laptop with SSD in 2021, I am still smitten with how fast it is and haven't experienced with speed issues yet.

1TB bhi add kar sakte hi par expensive hi. I suggest go for 250gb and install OS and other application on it to increase speed. And save file on regular HDD. If you are thinking for gaming then it is not gaming laptop. Thanks

Agar 8gb hi to 4gb on board hogi or 4gb slot pe install hogi. Slot wali nikal kar agar 8gb lagai to 4+8=12gb ho jayegi. 4gb slot wali exchange krani hogi. Speed increase karni hi to m.2 SSD install krani hogi or OS install SSD pe karna. Thanks❤🙏

For RAM Yes 4+4 =8GB. there is one slot of RAM and 4 GB onboard. But for SSD you have to remove the old SSD and then add a new 256GB because it installed on the slot. therefore only 256gb.

Yes Installing SSD will increase the speed you will feel the difference. HDD is slow. Operating system and Apps should be installed on ssd only. HDD can be used for storage purpose.

Upgrading ram and SSD will improve speed and response time of Apps. OS and Applications should be installed in SSD. For 4k video playback I believe there should be dedicated graphics card in Laptop. This is budget laptop and it has intel graphics which do graphics processing with cpu only no separate GPU i.e. dedicated graphics processor.
