As of 11/1/24 if anyone is viewing this for a reference video, unless you want a full size tower I would suggest the T5 speced out better than the T7 and for cheaper if your looking for a pre built. I have a Gen 8, what is shown in this video, tower and you can spec them up to 128 DDR5 RAM, a base 4080 card, if I recall correctly up to a 6TB M.2 SSD, and you can order THE T5 with the 13900 Intel and the liquid cooler as well for about 700 to 1000 cheaper then this shown T7. Lenovo also has multiple sales a year, and you can get one of their Legion series computers for about 200 to 275 over what it would have cost you to build it yourself. My T5 Gen8 is a I7 13700K 24 core, 64gb DDR5, 4 Tb SSD, it came with a 12gb PNY 4070 great card for a factory pre built, 750w PSU and a factory Lenovo/ Intel air cooler for the CPU. I would recommend just getting the one you want with the liquid cooler. All in all for an 1800 dollar pre built it honestly runs super well

Thanks for sharing all this information! A few weeks back I posted a video comparing the T5 and the T7 and concluded the T5 is the way to go for many of the same reasons as you. In fact, I bought myself a T5 after testing the T7. I picked up a couple of top fans and it made a big difference on the GPU performance.

Same! What are you leaning towards? At the current price I may go with this and I heard a BIOS update allows better usage of the Ram 5600MHz (not confirmed but hope it’s true).
@petersonfamily6223 Жыл бұрын
@@a.c.galicia FYI new Lenovo Legion i7 Gen 8 system with 64 GM RAM, 4090, and i9 came in. The RAM was running at 4000MHz! I updated the BIOS and the XMP option is not there as shown by reviewers who were able to update their systems to get the correct RAM speed.? There are memory options available after the BIOS update but any changes and the system will not start! Great I upgrade to 64 GB RAM and a larger NvME drive and have worse performance than others. The Lenovo forum has a few like me who just received the same system with the same results. For now, I would not guarantee any RAM for this system because it looks like there are different BIOS out there maybe because there are different motherboards? I am not sure but I am using the O5UKT1DA BIOS from April 20, 2023, for the Legion T7 34IRZ8 system. My options are to keep this, build my own and get the Corsair Vengence 8100. I only purchased the Lenovo because the BIOS reportedly corrected the RAM issue. Others are also reporting the NvME speeds are slow as well.
@a.c.galicia Жыл бұрын
@@petersonfamily6223 I ended up buying the Lenovo Legion i7 Gen 8 4090 as well. It came in yesterday (ordered 3 weeks ago) and I have also not been able to change it to 5600MHz via changing it from default to XMP. I tried it twice last night doing a custom in the BIOS but it failed and it reverted back itself, I didn’t want to get locked out so I just stopped. I’ve been looking at the Lenovo Forums as well and seems like it’s a common issue but was hoping there was someone out there who was able to change this. That being said i would keep being very vocal, Lenovo took some time for the 32GB version of this as well as previous Gen versions of the Legion Towers to do an XMP Profile. We paid for the higher priced 64GB. So while I hopefully expect there to be a update soon that allows XMP profile on the 64gB version, you’re right it isn’t guaranteed. But we need more people bring this up to their attention for them to find a way sooner to change this and not just settling for what it is!

It does have 4 x M.2 ports so I took out the wifi that I didn't need and added in 3 x 2TB NVMe for storage and 1 x 1TB NVMe 7000MB/s for the boot drive. You also have to delete the OS to remove all the bloatware. It's a great system. I got a great deal on it and it will last me until my next upgrade in a 15 - 16 months.

I would recommend you purchase the extended warranty. My new system required a full rebuild, replacing the Mother Board, GPU 4090, Power Supply, CPU 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900KF, and cooling system in Aug 2023. The system was fine until May 2024, and issues with sudden shutdowns started to occur and become more persistent. It could be the Intel CPU issue acting up but my system is now scheduled for a full rebuild again in less than a year of ownership. Well, I thought that was the case until Lenovo said they want me to send it to the depot. I paid for in-house repair and diagnostics and refused to do so. I am in the computer industry and have done all possible troubleshooting and checks to determine a cause, including tracking active processes and system usage when the issue occurs without success. I have the newest Intel Lenovo OEM BIOS to correct the Intel CPU voltage issue, but it has not fixed it. Again, I recommend getting the extended warranty for peace of mind.

I think it's plus for Lenovo to not put the new fake USBC port on the front panel of their machine. USBC is fast, usually 20 gigs. People love it and want it. What new manufactures are doing is splitting off a signal from the USB3 front panel cabling and hooking it to a USBC plug. No speed , just the name and connector. It's a sad situation.
