i bought one of these a few months ago. the controls feel great, the screen is extremely crisp,sharp, and vibrant. then mini trackpad and the way you can use the controller joycon as a mouse is also really cool. but what made me return it, was the battery. i was only able to game for a solid hour.
@RobinB360Ай бұрын
Yeah that screen is absolutely amazing! In my opinion that’s the best feature on the Legion Go. I can imagine that you returned it because of the battery. 1 hour of gaming on a handheld just isn’t enough.
@sluice2015Ай бұрын
@@RobinB360 yup exactly! also,it wasnt just an hour of gaming , I had even tried to use it as a mini PC. i charged it to 100%. then i watched some KZbin,did some social media, regular internet stuff,no gaming or anything. died within an hour and 20min or so. granted,most laptops have about a 3hr battery(some im sure can push to 4 or 5),but the inconvenience comes from you need to have a specific wattage for the charger, despite it having type-C. i have a 45w charger for my S24 Ultra phone,and it wasnt strong enough to charge the Legion Go. it wont even take the charge. i would have been less upset if it at least charged it,even if slowly,lol

I managed to snag a brand new "best buy used" 1TB legion go for $589.99. i returned it the next day. Very heavy, hot and loud on medium tdp, the bottom edges dug into my hands, and id only get 45 minutes to 1 hour of gaming. The legion go i bought was brand spanking new even when listed as "used: like new". The previous owner probably returned it very quickly too.

That’s a really good price. However seems not worth it because of the mentioned issues.

Just to be clear, you don't own your digital games with any storefront (Xbox, Playstation, EPIC, Ubisoft, EA, etc), those details have always been in the terms of use language. Steam just made a change to make this more obvious to its users. Its the same with digital movies, you don't own them anywhere, you're just purchasing a license to access the digital content. That is why physical media is best if possible. If anything, kudos to Steam for stating this front and center when we buy games on their store.

I’ve heard some people report that it gets quite hot while charging it in the case; is that something you’ve noticed?

I haven’t noticed that, but I don’t charge the Legion Go in the case that often.

I really love the idea of Legion Go, PC Switch with big nice screen which would help my already horrible eyes... Just the battery life, speakers and loud fans (maybe weight but i think i would use a kick stand all the time). I use handhelds at home but even if, i don't really like being forced to charge all the time, speakers can break immersion (which i don't really care that much but on Legion Go i heared it's really bad and i don't like using headphones) and i just HATE loud fans, they are my PS4 time nightmare and cause you have a handheld close to you, it's 10000x worse. I will probably get Steam Deck Oled but i have that nice that Steam Deck Oled, Rog Ally and Legion Go are almost the same price, like 50-75 dollar diffrence so ye. If you can, please tell me so i can sleep at night!... Well okay it's not that serious lol

Long story short, my current favorite PC handheld is the ROG Ally X. Even though I like the Steam Deck OLED a lot, the Ally X has that extra performance, battery life, ergonomics and more. The Legion Go’s screen is amazing, but there are more cons to it for me personally than pros. Still it’s an interesting device, so it can be great depending on your expectations. And if you can pick only one handheld it really depends on your budget, needs and expectations.

As a previous lenovo legion go owner, I'd like to say though I agree with what you've said so far especially when it comes to the screen, your review is not comprehensive. You've not talked about the impact of portability, which is a problem if you game on the Go. The lack of driver support from lenovo directly impacts gaming. The battery size and how long it lasts. the native portrait screen, which can cause problems when trying to use upscalers like AFMF. I could go on, but I think I've made my point. Conclusion Yes, it's very pretty, but the drawbacks massively outweigh the positives, for me at least. If you always game at home and don't really care about high FPS, then yh it's fine but if any or all of the above is of interest to you probably wait a bit longer or get the Asus rog ally x.
@RobinB360Ай бұрын
Thanks for the feedback. I did mention some of the points you’ve mentioned, however I could have talked about them more extensively. Also good point of you about the lack of driver support. Also you nailed it with the conclusion. I can agree with you on that 🤝

I wanna get into PC gaming but don't have a PC and I want a PC handheld but don't know which one to go with
@RobinB360Ай бұрын
I can imagine it might be difficult to choose one, with all these handhelds on the market. It really depends on your budget and your needs/expectations. Personally I would say the Steam Deck LCD/OLED is great way to step into the PC handheld world. As it is a great mix between a console and pc experience. If you want a bit more power the Lenovo Legion Go or ASUS ROG Ally (X) are a great option. If you need more help feel free to ask me or others in the comments or check out my Steam Deck LCD vs OLED video. Also I’m currently busy with a ASUS ROG Ally X review and will make a “Which one to buy” (steam deck/legion go/rog ally X) video next month. I also got a TECNO Pocket Go review upcoming. So keep an eye out for that or subscribe if you don’t want to miss it. Hope this all helps! 👍

@RobinB360Ай бұрын
@@kalista37 Even though there are more powerful handhelds on the market, a lot of people like the “console like” experience and prefer Steam over Windows on a handheld. It also has a decent price point.
@kalista37Ай бұрын
@RobinB360 yh I guess the price point is appealing, I don't get the insane fanboying over Steam? Big picture mode looks hella ugly, and not to mention, it has a lot of limitations when it comes to console gaming.
