Tablets like these are meant to be a budget option that can still tackle most people's use cases (content consumption), and are not really comparable to tablets in the price range of ipads. If you/your kids use these devices responsibly and are informed (which they should be), malware is rarely an issue. In the event that your device does get malware, you can quite easily use programs like Malwarebytes to remedy the issue.

I have the Lenovo Tab A8-50 which is a 2015 model. Bought it in 2016 and I'm still using it, the battery is going strong, lasts very long. It is just 8GB so I only use it for streaming video and reading. The biggest difference is that my model has two front facing speakers with Dolby athmos which a big plus. Very satisfied in the long term.

Excellent review with all the details we need to know. I recently bought the M8 FHD and my wife bought the Galaxy Tab A 8.0. Both seem to be excellent budget tablets. I'd be happy with either one, although I prefer the pure Android of the Lenovo. If I recall correctly, the Lenovo has a higher resolution screen.

The Samsung galaxy Tab a8 and this tablet (Lenovo tab m8 HD) both have 720p screens. however if you opt for the more expensive Lenovo Tab M8 FHD with a faster processor and 1080p screen, then that one will be better for reading than the samsung

I just got the M8 fhd. It's on sale in the US for $98! It's got a very nice display for the price. Almost iPad like but white is more blue on the Lenovo. Build feels like an iPad. I prefer Android and the aspect ratio is better on the Lenovo for video. Plus while charging the lock screen can be set to show just the time on a black background. I use it as a streaming clock radio at night with a sleep timer app (zzzsleep).

I would love it if, amongst your standard checks on tablets , you would include Minecraft performance. I'm a father of four and a teacher and we have owned many tablets over the last decade but one of the main defining factors that identifies usability is if it can run Minecraft competently. even if it is not intended as a gaming device there will always be a time in a busy house when a device has to run Minecraft. thanks for the reviews they are fantastic.

This M8 is cold and slippy in the hand and slides off the leather chair arm easily. I put some stripes of electrical tape on it for now and a DIY velcro hand strap. However I recently spent a long time scraping off the rubber coating (with sticker remover spray) of an old 'Archos Cobalt 80' tablet that became sticky. It came off like glue.

Lenovo has brought in a good gadget at this price point. The features of the tablet are impressive. Considering the price tag on the device, one would expect the brand to cut a few corners here and there but surprisingly lenovo did manage to check all the right boxes with the gadget. In terms of performance, MediaTek chipset does its job pretty well along with the long lasting battery.

That 'much stronger processor' is not much stronger in single core processing, only multitasking. It means that every app is as slow as on the HD version. It doesn't have a "better performance" Check the reviews.

I have the 2021 model. It's amazing for the price tag. The battery life is crazy. Just make sure you leave about 9% of memory empty. that way, you wont get many lags. PLEASE NOT THAT THIS TAB IS NOT A GAMING TAB.

I got the Lenovo Smart Tab M8 HD version, mainly because of the charging dock and this one has a dual speaker for some reason. Otherwise, it is the same specs as the M8 HD, which is good for me enough even though it's for my relatives who use the tablet for casual purposes, as I got my gaming pc, although Google maps would struggle if you open the info on the locations quickly. Battery life is awesome and I would have a blast to play video game emulators from older consoles up to Dreamcast for hours during a blackout. Nice review. I would admit it's not for everyone and depend for their uses but for my family, it is awesome.

If you like pure, stock Android with good battery life then this one (the Lenovo tab m8) is good. If you like Samsung's offerings then that is a good one too. I don't recommend the tab 4 8 as it is quite old now

@Sebastian the processor on this isn't that fast but I can have several tabs open on two browsers with KZbin on in the back and Amazon prime aswell. And it works okay but it does lag. It's not like a smartphone, put it that way.

I got that too that I bought during Boxing Day 2020 for 100 Canadian Dollars, I love the charging dock more than its Smart features, as my previous tablet the Blackberry Playbook got its micro-usb port broken, to the point I would avoid charging my current tablet directly to the cable. It isn't that powerful as Google maps would lag if you constantly open location infos along if you play a Gamecube and above video game emulators, but its battery life is a killer compared to my smartphones and I have a gaming pc so I don't really care about its performance.

I'm watching this video in my m8 hd. In my opinion the best budget tablet. Also you can play games smoothly. If pubg you can't olay in high graphics. But still the best. In the case of classes,2 hour use of this tab in Google meet only makes it to 77 percent to be exact. But I bought the 32 gb rom variant. It's better to buy which has more than 32. Bro buy this tab.... In samsung tab u get 2gb of RAM and from that 2gb ram u just get 400-500 of RAM free.... In lenovo u get 800-900 of RAM free and it runs games smoothly and online classes

The 8-inch Samsung T290 has about the same performance, so it makes no difference. But if you’re from the US, the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 should be better. Otherwise, the Tab M8 HD is fine for reading and watching videos. But it has not the best performance for gaming or so
