I keep watching tita lisa's reviews even though I don't have money to buy these expensive gadgets. It just makes me happy, and what I do like most about her reviews is she has a broad knowledge with the pen digitizers, unlike the other reviewers, who just say that the laptop has a pen then proceed and nothing else about it. I'm a digital artist wannabe so that's why.

I am huge fan of buying top tech a few generations behind the current TOY list. As a digital artist look at what you want to create and the tools you need to do so and then just go back a few generations. Craigslist, Offerup, Ebay are full of great options. Yes they will be heavier, run hotter, not look as sexy, but you can get an old engineer laptop and wacom tablet for around 300-400. Producing and creating will help you find when you need to upgrade. We are indoctrinated to be consumers, less to be creators. That's why smart phone review videos have millions of views. But how many Launch your own Smartphone brand videos have you watched? Right now I use an HP 2760p as a laptop predominately for web work. But that thing can push 16gb of ram. (I have 8gb currently) I prefer using my desktop for creative because its more comfortable and it is bottleneck towards creative work these days and that's the reason for the upgrade. A formidable executive tablet / convertible notebook that allows me to connected, productive and if needed to tear into some adobe products. Go be a digital artist and send us some examples. ROCK ON!

If I hadn't just purchased a Yoga 920 - this would have been my new tablet. I love the camera on the back - why? - I'm an art teacher and would love to have the ability to take photos of my student work quickly and easily. (BTW - I LOVE my Yoga - this just is a better fit for my weird workflow) - thanks for a wonderful review.

The Lenovo X1 Tablet generation 3 is great, I upgraded it with a 4 TB SSD NVME Samsung. How cool is that then you sit on the couch with a tablet intel I7 CPU 16 GB Ram and 4 TB SSD the SSD reads 3.5 GB per second and writes 3.3 GB per second. Virtualization on the couch on a tablet, server 2019 man man Lenovo what makes you possible. Thanks for this great technique. Unfortunately, the Gen 3 tablet is completely underestimated. I also have a Lenovo X1 Carbon Generation 8 and a super great notebook. Lenovo keep it up.

I have one of the 2nd gen ones and I really wish they had made a hard hinged keyboard attachment for it like the Helix before it had. The 1st and 2nd gens seem to have been designed for it, there are a lot of little slots underneath the module cover for anchoring points that could have held it steady. Would have made working on uneven surfaces (Like working on the couch!) so, so, so much easier..... Don't want anything to do with anything Yoga, having the keyboard exposed to the elements like that while in tablet mode seems more awkward even than the older X-Series tablets with the swivel-down designs. Shame this is where Lenovo left things off. They still sell the X1 Tablet gen 3 but it's been on sale for going on 4 years now and the Yoga line has been refreshed multiple times since.

It is a shame they discontinued this model though because they came so far in such a short time. The gen 3 will be good for several years though so I am happy with that.

Recently purchased a 2-in-1 Samsung Notebook 9 pro because I thought I could use a jack-of-all-trades kind of laptop with a nice keyboard, gpu, emr display, etc, but found that I never use the keyboard at all or the gpu (since I generally do anything requiring a gpu on my desktop). it's in tablet mode 90% of the time. It just seemed too unnecessarily bulky and the keyboard was really bothersome so I thought i'd sell it and get a tablet instead. Surface pro is too small and surface book too expensive. This seems like it would be perfect! also has that 3:2 ratio which I didn't even know. Thanks for the wonderful review!

Great review....I'm a big fan of Thinkpads and have one of their mobile workstations. I like drawing on the iPad Pro but can see a use for this in Windows...Photoshop, etc and would make a good mobile companion to the iPad. For drawing, however, I don't know about these kickstands because I've never used one. I have a Zugu case on my 12.9" iPad Pro and I am spoiled with it for drawing because it is ROCK SOLID. Lenovo Thinkpads are tough to beat...pun intended.
@MiRockstar
@MiRockstar 5 жыл бұрын
I just bought this for that very reason, I have an older yoga thinkpad 14 that is technically cumbersome specially when docked. I also got the ipad pro 12.9 for the very reason of "portable screen" but also because excellent timing, Adobe photoshop has been released on the ipad. It works great even if currently limited, but the Adobe team said they will actively be updating it and working on making it just as competent as the desktop version. Adobe also released an update so that you can share your work through their adobe cloud, and so I can start editing on the desktop, save my work, then proceed to do the fine detailed work on the ipad save it and it syncs nearly instantly. Great combo now with this unit because of certain features that just work better on desktop devices.

As a SP4 guy I was SERIOUSLY considering this over the X1 Yoga but, this has all the same flaws my SP4 has and I'd rather have a more "professional" laptop 2 n 1 (because sadly I need a 2 n 1 I can't get away with just a touchscreen). That said I'm glad serious competition is coming for the Surface series as it has left me with a bit of a bad taste in the time I've owned mine.

The Acer Switch 7 is available in some countries, but it has a big dealbreaker, the screen is very dim, don't remember exactly, but it's close to 200 nits... Otherwise it would have been great with its fanless 8th gen CPU... Having said that, the Acer is much heavier at 1.15kg, while the lenovo is under 900 gr and the HP is in Surface pro territory at 820gr despite the larger screen... in addition to having the largest battery

Wacom AES and N-Trig don't have much in the way of parallax, that's pretty much an old school Wacom EMR problem. The iPad Pro does have one of the best pen experiences available today- only Wacom EMR is its equal.

I believe that if you look at pure parallax, then the iPad Pro has pretty much no parallax at all and is the only one I've tried that doesn't have it. A second place when it comes to parallax that isn't an AES and N-trig seems to be the normal iPad 2018 and Wacom's products that uses Wacom EMR (such as Cintiq Pro line and their latest mobilestudio). If you're looking for Windows Tablets/Laptops that uses Wacom EMR technology, I would highly suggest looking at this spreadsheet: onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=A3E71B4BBE25C114!107&ithint=file%2cxlsx&app=Excel&authkey=!AAO1lowxloMJjhM And sort the 'digitizer' tab to Wacom EMR

Thank You Lisa. I am interested in the X1 line. Looking for a great typing experience with the ability to work virtually on the web. We have a CRM WEB Platform so the ability to jump on anywhere. I am trying to go lighter in the field. Smart phone, writing Pad, Tablet/ Laptop. I need to work on multiple tabs with the ability to open adobe products as needed. Meet with clients, etc. (The X1 line is pretty much the laptop dark suit.) I dont really plan on doing any serious video work in the field in this configuration, light editing and DIT. However, with 4 cores / 8 threads I can use it for light music production performance in the field. So that's kind of sexy. You are the best! Thanks

Can you try it with a EGPU? How would perform? And Which similar products would compare?

Can't currently post a screenshot, but iam using an Aorus 1070 eGPU and the performance is very well. I can play actually FC5 on Ultra settings without any lags or other problems. I only need one cable, because the TB3-eGPU is charging the tablet on the side.

Windows 10 is starting to have more drawing/painting software included. This is something I will consider as a secondhand/used device.

Glad to see you get your hands on this, I've been interested in seeing how it compares ever since they first announced it. Perhaps a bit unnecessary given the relative lack of upgradeability, but I really wish you'd shown the internals given that the rear cover is removable. Other than that, thanks for another great review!

Can purchase a productivity module that adds battery, usb 3 port, and can connect to One + dock. Then as mentioned above, can also support an eGpu. Sounds like a nice compromise. www.lenovo.com/us/en/accessories-and-monitors/tablet-accessories/x1-tablet-accessories/BATT-BO-TP-X1-Productivity-Module/p/4X50L08495

how was battery life? looks great but if it doesn't have at least 10+ hours I will pass. Hope they can get a keyboard battery pack like the surface book to extend it to surface book levels which is really good :)

If you want 10 hour batteries forget the high end tablet marked. I tested this one and got about 4 hours with a relatively light workload. I send it back because of that.

All well but that battery... I would prefer a slighly thicker but with a 55 or 60 WHr battery in there... I cry... and that jitter... Great Review as usual, I am spoiled with quality reviews from the queen xD
