It's this complicated from the flattening keys trick I think, the other thinkpads where it's separate just pop out from the top.

can you make this keyboard a mechanical keyboard or are you able to buy those keys that light up different colors or even those really cool ones that they're making on Etsy like out of resin some people are special making the Caps to change to your computer is that possible as well?

You can buy an mechanical keyboard and attach it via usb and use it that way. That type of keyboard you can swap out the keycaps and have custom ones. The connection for this is unique and needs to have the exact replacement part. Taking off the keycaps is very risky as it is easy to damage the plastic hooks holding it

Does it matter what the product number of the new keyboard is as long as it’s the same laptop model

Usually the most important thing is the FRU number for compatibility. But there are cases where just the laptop model might be good enough, just check the layout as it can be an international keyboard

no, yoga 12 is even harder. On this 370 the plastic bezel under the keys raises up, on the yoga 12, the actual keys drop down, just the opposite. This design is less complicated and more reliable imo.

@@hipster2283 keyboard doesn't retract on this model, the plastic bezel below it raises up. But yes this is still why it's harder to remove.
