Good Video as allways! I have got the z13 gen 2 flax with OLED, Ryzen 7, 64GB RAM and 2 TB NVme - so maxed out configuration - for one week and it is marvelous!! Reserving 8GB UMA Memory in Bios makes it even possible to play Horizon Zero Dawn with the Ryzen 7 Graphics. The Keyboard, Screen, Touchpad, Overall Material makes it the best Thinkpad I have ever used in my 20 Years Laptop History.

Finally the z16 gen 2 is here, would eagerly await the full review. Also, please share your feedback on the haptic touchpad. I believe this year it is made by Sensel, so pretty excited to know how it performs.

How is the Sensel touchpad? There has been a lot of hype around this. Does it match the Apple Macbooks?

Will the haptic still work if Linux is installed?
@SenselInc Жыл бұрын
Hey Matthew. This is Mark from Sensel, the company behind the haptic touchpad in the Z16. To answer your question - yes, the haptics will work on Linux! In fact, all Sensel touchpads work with Linux OS. We have a mouse mode that gets activated on a non-windows laptop, which is similar to an external mouse. The only thing that doesn't work the same on Linux is not all of the PTP gestures translate, since that's a Windows thing.

do they not make these with gpus? I took auto cad in highschool and everyone wanted this. But, how could it even be useful without a gpu these days?

The Z line of the ThinkPad is so ridiculously overpriced that it makes absolutely no sense when you can get the exact same CPU and configuration for a T14/T16 Gen 4 at half the price. You'll also get a more tried and tested line of the ThinkPad with better cooling, a better keyboard, and an anti-glare screen. I know it's not the super thin and modern bezel-less laptop but if a ThinkPad is what you need, then you're probably looking for a workhorse anyways.

I can't get my head around why Windows OEMs are so behind in design quality. Even a 2006 MacBook looks better than this when design is concerned. The only reason I can think of is that designers are expensive, and the design won't show up on the spec sheet, which is all Windows people care about. In that sense, it's probably a good way to reduce costs for your target consumer. However, it isn't going to get any Apple users to purchase it.

Exactly my point. i don't know why most of the windows laptops looks so ugly. Look at this for instance. There is a notch, there is silver colour on top, black inside and on the bottom. why cant you stick with a colour scheme and replace a notch. I have seen some good designs in dell precision 5680 and ThinkPad P1 Gen 6 but then there are some other issues. I believe there is no money being spent on R&D or designers have become a status quo.
