Tarantino shoots film and is one of the few remaining staunch advocates of film shooting for the distinctive looks it achieves, this is evident from every interview with him you see. It wasn't done digitally, he just knows how to set a scene and paint a superb cinematic image.

So do you think Tarantino's operator was holding the lens with his/her hands ??? I just can't imagine that happening on big features with budget movies, especially on film, the risk of getting your film exposed or dirty is too high, no ?
@TechnoBabble6 жыл бұрын
There's actually a lens that you sit in front of your camera's lens usually called a split diopter filter. It's basically two pieces of glass that changes the focus distance for the lens that are joined in the middle of the filter. For high budget movies using film they are likely using extremely high quality split diopter filters.

That is an insanely good technique! As i watched it, i got the idea of building an apparatus to mount the camera and the lens to. Maybe with the possibility to move the lens further away or closer to the camera and rotate it horizontally. That would get rid of the chance to drop the lens or your camera...

I feel so lame asking this... but isn't "dust" an issue when you do this? I still try to do an Indiana Jones Idol Swap move when I switch lenses... am I paranoid?
@jeremybizzano54487 жыл бұрын
That is a concern... I mostly do still photography and learned if you don't turn the camera off when changing lenses, the electrical charge on the sensor will attract dust much more than if the camera was shut off. It definitely looks cool, it's a trade off. You may have to clean your sensor frequently.

For Canon crop frame cameras such as the T2i/T3i/T4i I find a focal length around 30mm to be good. As for the focusing, old Tamron Adaptall 2 lenses are great because it's essentially attached to all systems with a different removable adapter and they're pretty cheap too. I bought a Tamron Adaptall 28mm f/2.5 and it works great with my T2i for this purpose. Flares like heck too. Also, you can record your own light leak assets by putting the lens cap on and recording some lens whacking.
@huntressxwizard12 жыл бұрын
This effect is actually really easy once you have all your fire in place. Just duplicate all your fire layers, scale the duplicated ones up a bit, make sure they're all in place, then pre compose that moving all atributes into the new comp. In the new comp, blur all the fire a bit, then in the origonal comp, make the second fire layer invisible, then drag a displacement map effect onto your footage, and use the fire pre comp as the displacement source...

you might be able to get a lens adapter that's usually used to make your lens mount compatible with lenses with different mounts. The camera will probably recognize the adapter as a lens so you can have your lens off the camera. I've never tried this, but it could work.

From what I can tell, it is usually in the video format selection before you start editing in Premiere Pro CS 3/4. I don't know what kind of video editing software you are using, but I think there should be a way to do it. If there is no option for it, it might the default setting for every video.

No, but yes, kind of. Basically you edit in Windows and then export the individual frames that you want to add flashes to. You take those frames into a image editor, add your flashes, save them, and then re-import. I know this can be done using the Vista and early versions of WMM, but I don't know about later versions.
@N0616JCProductions12 жыл бұрын
From the minimun skill in video editing, just choose the 24FPS option when before your start the editing and your final product will be in 24 FPS. The cool thing about having the base video at 60 FPS is that you can do slow-mo with that thing easier. Anyhow, hope that helps you. I know I'm not the *cough - expert*.

Hey Ryan. There was this one effect that I really like in movies that I would like to see you show us how to do and what its called. It looks like a zoom but it has a handheld look to it and feels like a reporter zooming in on something in the back. Here is a clip of the Avengers that shows it. It happens at 0:33. It is also used a lot in Avatar. Thanx Ry!

I believe Lens Baby makes lenses that can do this effect and the effect of having two subjects of varying distances in focus. I personally don't know the model name but I'm pretty sure a friend of mine told me this before. It might be something to look into.
@seancowgill847012 жыл бұрын
lensbaby gets a similar focus effect but you can't get the light leak/flares with the lensbaby. its because the lens is physically off the body that allows the light to enter into the camera. So you just have to ask what look are you going for.

Most video editing programs allow you to change the framerate (e.g in Sony Vegas you go to properties and change the undersample rate). Or you could just export it as 24 fps. What guitarplayerzzz is telling you, is that when you have a footage that is 60 fps, you can turn it into 30 fps by slowing it down 2 times, which will give you a smooth looking slow motion, but that's obviously not what you are looking for.
@Webcast0112 жыл бұрын
