The sound of a gently simmering soup is music to my ears! What a comforting and pretty meal. Thanks for the recipe!

Just had this for dinner and it was so yum! I added a little chaat masala on top and that added a little more edge to the dish. Chetna, you’re really expanding my vegetarian repertoire! Nothing I make tastes like my mom’s Indian dishes, but with your recipes, I’m creating my own type of Indian cooking.

Hi Chetna I love the comforting way you cook. But I am not one who colors inside the lines so I am riffing on this recipe with kale for spinach, medium cut bulgar for chickpeas, and yellow dal for pink lentils. But I am gonna hit that coriander tahini goodness exactly the way you showed. You're a blessing, keep the lovely food coming!!

So great to see your video today! Inspired now to put a pot of soup on, shortly. I can't easily find fresh curry leaves in my community at this time. Just how much flavor do they actually add, if I may ask? Thanks in advance
@starfireonvf4 жыл бұрын
They add quite a bit of flavor but it's fine in dal when you dont add it. It's not necessary.
@j.w86802 жыл бұрын
Dried curry leaves can be bought online through Amazon and various other companies. Dried leaves are said to impart more flavour than fresh ones. I always keep some in stock because they last a long time and add a deliciousness to many dhalls(lentils) & curry dshes.

I love the explosion of oil that accompanies the addition of the curry leaves in the beginning, in so many of your dishes. It’s funny, as I learn more about Indian cooking I’m getting that this is normal but any times that’s happened to me I’ve been so squeamish 😂.

Amazing recipe, as usual, but could you please tell me if the lentil is cooked when you add? and do they have skin?, because they seem as if don't have skin.
@broshmosh4 жыл бұрын
Red lentils only need to be rinsed before cooking - these were raw when added, and were cooked after 10min. They are sold in packages after a process which removes the husk and skin. Canned chickpeas also have the skin removed.

Chetna, I think [ 1:26 ] the handle of your much-envied skillet might be coming a bit loose and need some screwdriver TLC. A tin of chickpeas is total contents weight 400g but only around 250g drained-about what you get by cooking 135g dried chickpeas (if anyone, like me, likes using dried). Recipe looks great, must try.
